Golden Tulip Hotel Golf on Feb.14

Accra, Jan. 27, GNA-The 15th Annual Golden Tulip Hotel Golf Championship tees off at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday, February 14. Mr Kwabena Oteng-Aboagye, General Manager of the Achimota Golf Club, who announced this in Accra on Tuesday, said more than 100 amateur golfers drawn from Achimota, Tema, Celebrity and Bok Nam Kim golf clubs were expected to participate in the event.

He said the one-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition which would be played in accordance with the rues of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of Scotland and the local rules of the Ghana Golf Association, was the second major competition of the year, the first being the Ecobank. Open. Mr Oteng Aboagye said entry qualification for the Men's category was Handicap 18 but those with Handicap 24 may play to Handicap 18 while the qualification for the Ladies had been pegged at Handicap 24. The General Manager named some of the golfers who had already registered for the competition, which, he said, had received a large entry this year as Jonathan Ane, youngster, Daniel List, Gilbert Morgan, Bob Evans, Charles Tabi, Mike Aggrey and Michael Ben-George, all of the Achimota Golf Club.

The Celebrity Golf Club, which would be led by their captain, Joe Ohemeng, would include Akwasi Opoku, Joe Ampofo and Abdul Aziz-Amankwa. Seventeen prizes which include 'Nearest to the Pin on Hole 17' and the 'Longest Drive on Hole 18' would be awarded in the competition. Mr Herbert Friese, Vice President of Golden Tulip West Africa and Mr Reinier Kappner, General Manager of Golden Tulip Hotel, are expected to grace the occasion. 27 Jan. 09
