Ghana Telecom Regional Golf tees of on Sept. 27

Accra, Sep. 9, GNA - The first Ghana Telecom Regional Open Golf Championship tees off at the Takoradi Golf Course in the Western Region on Saturday, September 27.

Reverend Lee Mensah, Captain of the Takoradi Golf Club who announced this in Accra on Tuesday, said about 80 amateur golfers are expected to participate in the one-day 18-Hole Medal Play competition. He said that the competition which would be played under the rules of the Ghana Golf Association has Handicap 18 and 24 as the entry requirements.

Rev. Mensah said some of the golfers expected to be seen in action include S.S. Sarpong and S.A. Peprah, both of the Takoradi Golf Club. There would be prizes for 'The Nearest to the Pin' on Hole 18 and the 'Closest to the Pin' on Hole 17'.

Meanwhile the Ghana Commercial Bank Limited Invitational Golf Championship scheduled for the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana's Golf Course at Tafo in the Eastern Region has been postponed. Dr Francis Oppong who announced this in Accra on Tuesday, said a new date would be announced later. 09 Sept. 08
