Engineers hold Golf event

The Society for Petroleum Engineers, Ghana Branch has in conjunction with a number of multinational companies held a golf event at the Celebrity Golf Park, Sakumono as part of their activities to raise funds for the needy and also support students who want to go into Petroleum Engineering.

The 18-hole event had its fair share of locals and expatriates as well as the Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin who graced the occasion with his presence.

The President of the Ghana Branch of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Francis Ackah, who was happy to see an improvement in the numbers as compared to that of the previous year said that his organization is humbled to be supporting a worthy cause of this magnitude.

“The booming Oil and Gas industry needs students of the requisite skills to man it and with the cost which is on the high side, I am glad that my association would want to support students with the wherewithal to the benefit of the country.

Giving back to the society that has made most of us here is a feeling that is very difficult to quantify and it is only fair that we give back to the society as well.”

The event was supported by TIGO, DSTV and a huge pack of Energy Giants all over the World including Halliburton and Tullow Oil.

Prizes were also awarded to deserving performers on the day. There was also a raffle that was aimed at raising some for Orphan Aid Africa on the Dodowa-Somanya Road.
