Celebrity Medal Golf tees off on July 28

Tema, July 3, GNA - The July Medal Open Golf Championship of the Celebrity Golf Club tees off at Sakumono, near Tema on Saturday, July 28.

Mr Joe Ohemeng, Captain of the Club who announced this at Tema on Tuesday, said about 100 amateur golfers are expected to participate in the one-day 18-Hole Medal event. He said the event, even though a Club affair, other golfers have been invited from the Tema, Achimota and Bok Nam Kim Golf Clubs, all in the Greater Accra Region.

Mr Ohemeng said the competition, which would be played under the rules of the World's Golf Governing body and the local rules of the Celebrity Golf Club, would be sponsored by the Celebrity Golf Club. He said the management of the Club is putting in place adequate measures to ensure that the Course is fertile and playable. Abdul-Aziz Amankwah, winner of the April Medal and Joseph Ampofo, the June champion, had both registered for the event. Golfers use monthly medal competitions to sharpen their strokes for major competitions. 03 July 07
