Celebrity Golf Club ready to host five day Golf fiesta

Celebrity Golf Club, Sakumono, will from September 19 to Sunday 23, host the country’s biggest Golf event that will feature the best golfers in the country.

The five day event will be preceded by a cocktail party at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Airport on Tuesday, September 18, to draw out registration modalities with presentations from the Ghana Golf Association (GGA), Captain of the Celebrity Golf Club and lead sponsors MTN Ghana and Interplast.

This will be followed by registration exercise for the ladies for the qualifiers, as well as the tee-off on Wednesday, September 19.

According to the organizers, registration for the professionals will be conducted on Thursday, September 20, with the tee-off, whilst the day will be rounded up with Annual General Meeting of the GGA.

Golfers will failed to register on Thursday, will be given the opportunity to register on Friday, September 21,which also marks the birthday of Ghana’s first president Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

The Amateurs and Juniors, will also take their turn on Saturday, with the finals for the Ladies fixed for the same day.

The five day event will be brought to a close on Sunday, September 23, with tee-off for all categories including seniors.

Andrew M. Wilson, the Competition Secretary said Celebrity Golf Club is ready to receive the nation’s best golfers adding that “almost every green has been totally reconstructed, water hazards have been enhanced, tee boxes have been refurbished and a great deal of work has been put in to tidy up the rough edges”.

He said Golfers will have adequate satisfaction playing on the course as compared to previous events.

“We have invested in new course machinery especially green mowers and the greens have been prepared to the appropriate standard.

Celebrity Golf Club is a family club and we actively encourage youngsters to come and be coached by our resident team of professionals.

MTN and Interplast are the lead sponsors, with Goldfields, Coca Cola and Devere Group as the supporting sponsors.
