Brenya, Ryan win Republic Day golf

Felix Brenya and his partner, Martin Ryan scored 43 points to win this year's Achimota Golf Club Republic Day Golf championship played at the Achimota Golf Course on Tuesday.

Ward Marshal partnered by B. Marshal took the second position with 42 points, the third position went to Bashiru Sakibu/Albert Brock with 41 points, beating the pair of Jonathan Myles-Lamptey and Mona Captan on countback while K. Degbe and E. Amexado placed fifth with 40 points.

The one-day 18-hole stableford competition which was sponsored by the club, formed part of activities marking the 43d anniversary of Ghana gaining a Republican status.

Mr Samuel Adetola, Captain of the club, said the club would soon come out with a magazine on its performance and asked members to contribute their quota for its publication.

He announced that with effect from this month, the Prestige Motors Company and Econet Wireless of Nigeria would be sponsoring the Holes Number 5 and 14 respectively and called on other corporate bodies to contribute the development of the sport.
