Barclays Bank Open Golf on May 10

Accra, May 5, GNA - This year's Barclays Bank Ghana Limited Open Golf Championship tees off at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday, May 10.

Mr Kwabena Oteng-Aboagye, General Manager of the Achimota Golf Club, said the one-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition which is open to amateur and professional golfers throughout the country is expected to attract more than 150 participants. He said the event, which shall be played under the local rules of the Achimota Golf Club and that of the Ghana Golf Association, has handicap 18 and 24 respectively as the entry requirements for the men and Ladies.

Mr Oteng-Aboagye said the event, started in 1969, continued to generate interest year after year due to the attractive prizes put at stake and this year would not be an exception. G.C. Morgan, Dan Dennis, Charles Tabi, Mike Ezan, Mike Aggrey, Bob Evans, K.K. Pumpuni, E.M. Kwame and Wisdom Asempa are some of the golfers who have registered for the event for the Men's Section. The Ladies Section would also witness stiff opposition from 'Lady Scientific' Florence Etwi-Barimah, Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong, 'Tico-Tico' Grace Afriyie and Esther Antwi, all of Tema Country Golf Club.

Mrs Margaret Mwanakatwe, Managing Director of Barclays Bank Ghana Limited, would present the prestigious trophies to the winners. 05 May 08
