Asafu-Adjaye retains May Day golf trophy

Mary Asafu-Adjaye retained the Achimota Golf Club May Day Price Championship trophy she won last year when she scored 36 points to win this year's competition played at Achimota on May Day.

Mary scored 22 in and 14 out to win the competition, which was in memory of Mr. Michael Price, a senior member of the club who died some 10 years ago.

It also formed part of activities marking the celebration of this year's May Day and was jointly sponsored by Mrs. Clara Price, wife of the late Mr. Price and the Achimota Golf Club.

Joy Arkutu beat Mona Captan on count-back after they had both scored 35 points to take the second position in the competition, which attracted more than 80 participants.

Van Heijst won the Men's category with 41 points, Joseph Odei was second with 36 points, Vander Zeew took the third position with 35 points, beating David Atuwo on count-back while Ted Deignan placed fifth with 34 points.

Professor Michael Ben-George, President of the Ghana Golf Association praised Mr. Price for his contribution to the advancement of the club.

He entreated all golfers to strive hard and contribute to the development of the sport.

Prof. Ben-George was assisted by Mr. Felix Owusu-Adjapong, minister for Parliamentary Affairs to present prizes to the winners.
