Achimota Medal Golf tees off on April 5

Accra, March 30, GNA - After the hectic Ghana Open Golf Championship which ended at the Celebrity Golf Course at Sakumono near Tema last Monday, golfers have returned to their various clubs to continue with their local activities.

Achimota Golf Club, Ghana's premier golf would host its April Medal Open Championship in Accra on Saturday, April 5.

Mr Kwabena Oteng-Aboagye, General Manager of the Club told GNA Sports in Accra on Sunday, that the one-day event which is open only to amateur golfers would be sponsored by PriceWater House Coopers. He said the competition would be played in accordance with the local rules of the Achimota Golf Club and the Ghana Golf Association.

Mr Oteng-Aboagye said the competition, even though a Club affair, invitation had been extended to other golf clubs in the Greater Accra Region to participate in the championship.

He said that some seasoned members of the Club had already registered for the Medal Play competition, which aims at strengthening and sharpening the strokes of golfers for major competitions.

The General Manager said some of the golfers include veteran Mike Ezan, President of the Club, Bob Evans, captain of the Club, Oswald Amuzu, Mike Aggrey, Paul List, E.K. Kwame, Charles Tabi and Dan Dennis.

In a related development, Tema Country Golf Club would also play its April Competition on April 5, Mr Ebenezer Adablanu, General Manager of the club announced.
