Accra Open Golf competition tees off in Accra

Accra, Sept. 26, GNA - The 58th Edition of the Accra Open Golf championship will tee off at the Achimota Golf course from Thursday, October 23 to Sunday, October 26. The three day prestigious tournament is to be sponsored by Ghana Commercial Bank.

Mr Emmanuel K. Oteng-Aboagye, General Manager of the Achimota Golf Club in a press release copied to GNA Sports said invitations have been extended to other golfers from the African sub-region including crack golfers from Burkina Faso, Benin, Cote D'Ivoire, Nigeria, Liberia, Togo and Senegal to give the tournament an international touch. He said invitation has also been sent to other golf clubs in the country notably the Tema Country Golf Club, Celebrity, Bok Nam Kim, Tafo and Kumasi Golf Clubs as well as other regional golf clubs to ensure that a competitive event is ensured.

Mr Oteng-Aboagye said at stake would be magnificent crystallized trophies for the amateur golfers whilst the Professionals will battle for 5,400 Ghana cedi prize money. He said the prestigious tournament of the Premier Gold Club of the country would be played under the rules of the Achimota Golf Club and the International Golf Association. The General Manager called on all sports loving personalities and golfers to ensure that patronise the event and also witness the new improved Golf Course of the Achimota Club. 26 Sept. 08
