200 golfers to compete for Achimota Jubilee Championship trophy

Accra, Oct. 22, GNA - Over 200 golfers are expected to parade at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra to vie for the Club's Diamond Jubilee Championship trophy on Saturday, October 24.

Mr Kwabena Oteng-Aboagye, General Manager of the Achimota Golf Club t= old in Accra on Thursday that the two-day 36-Hole Scratch event, would be sponsored by MTN Ghana with support from CAL Bank Limited, Guaranty Trust Bank Ghana Limit= ed, PHC Motors, Vanguard Assurance Company Limited and Wienco Ghana Limited.

He said the competition, which was open to amateur and professional golfers throughout the

country would be played in accordance with the rules of the World's Golf governing body and the local rules of the Club.

Mike Aggrey would lead the Achimota team that would include Paul Owusu-Baah, Wisdom Asempah, Yaw Assah-Sam, Mike Ezan, Rene Kwame, Francis Asorgba, Matthias Dorfe, Paul List and Charles Tabi.

The Tema Country Golf Club's team to be led by Kwaku Okyere, would include the Tema Open champion, Vincent Coffie, Larry Chinbuah, Alex Fiagomey, William Asi= edu Yeboah, Nana Kwadwo Duku and Felix Owusu-Adjapong.

The Ladies section would also see big names such as 'Lady Scientific Florence Etwi- Barimah, Mona Myles-Lamptey, Clara Price and Grace Afriyie battling each other for honours.

President John Evans Atta Mills is expected to take the ceremonial tee-off which would be graced by other dignitaries in the sporting fraternity.
