150 to vie for GCB Golf trophy

Accra, Nov.13, GNA - All is set for this year's Ghana Commercial Bank Limited Open Golf Championship scheduled for the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday, November 18.

Mr Kwesi Oteng-Aboagye, General Manager of the Achimota Golf Club who announced this in Accra on Monday, said about 150 golfers are expected to participate in the one-day 18-Hole Stable-Ford competition which is open to amateur golfers throughout the country.

He said the entry requirement for the event which will be played under the local rules of the Achimota Golf Club is Handicap 18 for the Men with the Ladies playing with Handicap 24.

Mr Oteng-Aboagye said he was happy with the interest golfers continue to show in the GCB's competitions, especially this year and has the hope that the number of participants might even increase. Kwame Saarah-Mensah, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club will lead his side's team which would include Mike Ezan, the President, Michael Aggrey, John Sam, Paul List and Dan Dennis.

The event will be graced by Mr K.G. Osei-Bonsu, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Mr Lawrence Adu Mante, Managing Director both of the Ghana Commercial Bank.

Charles Tabi of the Achimota Golf Club is the defending champion.
