Columnist: Kwaku Boadu

My take on Nana Addo and John Mahama

President Akufo-Addo & Ex- president Mahama President Akufo-Addo & Ex- president Mahama

Nana Addo's ambition of becoming a president of this nation dated way back 1992.

Fortunately for him, he saw the first Republic with Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, second Republic with Abrefa Busia, third Republic with Dr. Hilla Leman, fourth Republic with Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kuffour, Professor John Atta Mills, John Dramani Mahama.

From these examples enumerated, l thought l was going to see something extraordinary with this style of governance but so far everything looks for me, he is going to be the worst president Ghana will ever have.

I thought as old as he is and the experiences from his predecessors, he could be an excellent president in terms of governance, relations, connections, discipline, corruption-free but tried as l could, he is becoming just an ordinary man.

With this style of leadership, l think when given the opportunity anybody can govern this country and even do better.

Personally, l can't see any hope ahead If he should be given the opportunity to stay on for the second term.

Mahama

Mahama though, many people have criticized in the past, but looking at his records, he could have done better If Ghanaians had given him a second term. He was gradually building up the main important infrastructures.

If he gets the second chance to rule again, he must work on the industry players quickly to start bringing back all the important factories Kwame Nkrumah has built.

Cut down the salaries of the CEO'S, select the IGP through an independent body. Must not increase the salaries of the parliamentarians.

Fine-tune the constitution Mills started, Cut down the size of government to 70, Teachers must be given soft loans to build houses and paid within 15yrs.

Must send Some of the key ministries to Kumasi. Must encourage the industry players to go to the northern part of the country to build, this will help prevent most our sisters and brothers who always come down south to look for jobs.

Must Make it a policy to invest heavily in the six newly created regions. As a policy, he must Make sure the big coastal areas are splashed with high sky buildings.

Must continue with building new market centres for our dear mothers and sisters.
