Rejoinder: Mr. President, wake up on Lord Commey

Mr. Lord Commey Mr. Lord Commey

I have read with sadness and disappointment an article written by one, Mawuko Quarshigah, calling on the President to wake up on Lord Commey with regard his operations at the Flagstaff House.

Although, I am not the Spokesperson of Lord Commey, but I find the piece very unreasonable and destructive. The allegations levelled against Lord Commey are geared toward not only tarnishing the image of the hardworking man, but also, the presidency. How could someone be paid a whopping GHC250,000 a week by a fellow Ghanaian?

For the information of Mawuko or whatever he calls himself, Lord Oblitey Commey is not an ordinary person as far as politics is concerned. He has been the National Organiser of no mean a political party than the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Lord, as I affectionately call him, has been with President Nana Akufo-Addo since the day the latter launched his presidential ambition. He has been a trusted friend of Nana Akufo-Addo and many recall the risk Lord Commey took at Legon in 2007 during the NPP Congress to elect the Party's flagbearer for Election 2008.

Since, then Lord has worked tirelessly to ensure NPP's victory and of course, the presidency of Nana Akufo-Addo. It will therefore take a person of an diabolic mind to make such frivolous allegations against a man who wants Nana Addo's government to succeed.

Do you think it was just by an accident that, an incorruptible president like Nana Akufo-Addo would appoint a 'corrupt' person to be the Director of Operations at the Flagstaff House? I want readers to remember that, Lord Oblitey Commey was among the first people to be appointed as the Administrative Staff of the President. This clearly shows the trust and confidence the president has in him.

Indeed, Lord Commey is a fallible human being, but looking at the good works he has done so far at the presidency - organising Nana Addo's investiture, Ghana @60 etc, and forfeiting all allowances thereof in all such circumstances, it will only take a wicked mind to destroy him within six months of NPP administration.

Lord is tough, very articulate, honest, selfless and hardworking. If his sacrifices and hard work could not be recognised and appreciated by the wicked minds, the least they should do is not to create an enmity between him and his boss, the President.

In winding down, I would urge Lord not to be disturbed by these packaged lies which I learnt was propagated by one Fadi Daboussie and signed by Mawuko Quarshigah. Some of these same wicked minds initially attempted to bring down Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications, but it did not work. Yours is therefore not surprising. God is in control and enemies are not God.
