Dr. Adufutse of Anfoega fails the paper
Our "Professor of Leadership and Organizational Change in the US" comes out oozing with bravado for Kotoka.
Funny, Dr. William Yaw Adufutse, of Anfoega, in the Volta Region, does not even mention Komla Gbedemah.
We are wondering why?
Does Dr. William Yaw Adufutse, of Anfoega, in the Volta Region, know his history, after all?
What, tell us, is wrong with the history of Ghana in the mind of Dr. William Yaw Adufutse, of Anfoega, in the Volta Region?
BUT, KOTOKA WAS A TRAITOR!
READ: "...People then needed a change, and a courageous man Kotoka took on the task and did it...".
WE SAY: Yes, right!
Get us some facts, Dr. William Yaw Adufutse, of Anfoega, in the Volta Region. Or, forever remain a coupist. After all, it is Dr. William Yaw Adufutse, of Anfoega who just might as well be singing:
"...I am not a big fan of coup d’états if there is a rigorous legislative system that checks all branches of government and satisfy the needs of the people...".
"...I am not a big fan of coup d’états if there is a rigorous legislative system that checks all branches of government and satisfy the needs of the people...".
"...I am not a big fan of coup d’états if there is a rigorous legislative system that checks all branches of government and satisfy the needs of the people...".
What African polity are you talking about, in what age, Dr.?
So, no, get us some data about what Kotoka said, who said what, who was behind what, what actually is concrete, verifiable, through data, Dr. William Yaw Adufutse, Professor of Leadership and Organizational Change, of Anfoega, in the Volta Region.
And so, perhaps, not surprisingly, Dr. William Yaw Adufutse, of Anfoega, in the Volta Region, even gets his "History and Arithmetic" totally screwed up, upside-down wrong!
READ: "...In the interim the big six excluding Kwame Nkrumah, who were:
Ako Ajei; Akufo Ado; J. B Danquah; Obetshbi Lamptey; Ofori Atta...Were all detained in the Nswam prison. Most of them if not all of them, died there in poor health conditions...".
WE SAY: Here is a small boy Ghana "History" lesson for Dr. William Yaw Adufutse, of Anfoega, in the Volta Region:
1. Ako Ajei - "Dr. Ebenezer Ako Adjei - An Appreciation. The passing of Dr. Ebenezer Ako Adjei on January 14, 2002, at the most respectable age of 85 years; closes a chapter in the political history of Ghana."
(Could not have died under Kwame Nkrumah).
2. Akufo Ado - Edward Akufo-Addo (26 June 1906 – 17 July 1979)
(Could not have died under Kwame Nkrumah)
3. J. B Danquah (1895–1965)
- died in Nsawam - from heat attack, at 70
4. Obetshbi Lamptey - 26 April 1902–29 January 1963 (died at 61, died in Nsawam)
5. Ofori Atta - William Ofori Atta (1910-1988)
(Could not have died under Kwame Nkrumah)
Surely, death in prison is bad/sad.
Still, 2 out of 5 does not make "most", even if you stretch the truth Anfoega-style, or like a child.
And, the critical/reflective person ought to consider what the person in prison most likely did to end up in prison. J. B. Danquah for one was confined to Nsawam for subversion.
Dr. William Yaw Adufutse, of Anfoega, in the Volta Region, fails this paper, and so, his call to "move ahead" is not grounded in logic, history, or practicality, if he still wants to represent Kotoka as hero for Ghana.
Further, in comparison, analytically:
--- John Atta Mills, 1944 – 24 July 2012 (68)
--- Kwame Nkrumah, 1909 – 27 April 1972 (63)
Maybe Dr. William Yaw Adufutse, of Anfoega, in the Volta Region, will come back with a better, intellectually-grounded perspective on life expectancy in Ghana, even today, more than 50 years removed from the betrayal by his "courageous Kotoka".
Tell us, sir, what it is, even today!
Haba, Dr. William Yaw Adufutse!

Prof L,
Thanks as usual. Even this brief exposes the hollowness of this bloke. He was just making up stories from the post-coup propaganda.
I was surprised to learn that the Young Pioneers was made compulsory to pupils. Pure lie. My school in Anloga is where they meet after school hours but no one was ever forced to join even though my auntie, Madam Tamakloe, the Headteacher, was the Head of the CPP Women wing in Anloga and environs. mr Tettevi was the head of the YP, btw. No single YP ever reported the parents or anyone in Anloga. If anyone ever did, my family and hence I would have known about that. Of course, we knew all those detained and why. One can even read about that in the Djabanor C'ttee of 1967. I have a copy at home here in London. I know things which are not in that report.
Btw, he obviously didn't know that Nkrumah did all the "rigorous work" and passed all his course work to get a PhD, and he did it so well it frightened the defenders of Uncle Sam. They refused to accept his dissertation on the grounds that it was "communistic". Marika Sherwood has chronicled this in her book:
Kwame Nkrumah: The Years Abroad 1935-1947. by Marika - jstor
www.jstor.org/stable/23489780
by G Nzongola-Ntalaja - ?1997
Kwame Nkrumah: The Years Abroad 1935-1947. by Marika. Sherwood, Freedom Publications, Legon, Ghana, 1996, 202 p. [Paperback]. ISBN 99887716 06.
Since people are too lazy to research these things which can be easily found on the web, I;m pasting below an extract from a review of the book.
"The book under review provides an extremely rich documentation on these politically formative years in two parts: "the American years." 1935 to 1945 and "the London years", 1945 to 1947. The first ten years were intensely academic, and were spent at two U.S. institutions of higher education, Lincoln University — an
African American liberal arts college, and the nearby University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Nkrumah was an outstanding student at Lincoln, graduating magnacum laude withaB.A. in sociology in 1939. He also worked there in various
capacities as a teaching assistant and as an instructor, including a one-year appointment as professor of Philosophy and Logic, Elementary Greek, and Negro Civilization and History in 1944-45.
In addition to earning a Master of Science degree in education at the University of Pennsylvania, Nkrumah assisted in teaching African language at the Institute of 1997 African Association of Political Science
Languages and Culture.
Unfortunately, his Ph.D. dissertation in Philosophy was rejected, presumably for being "too pro-Communistic" (p. 64).
With little financial support, Nkrumah engaged in extramural activities likely to earn him some money for his living and educational expenses. Thus, he made
use of his Bachelor's degree in Sacred Theology, earned in 1942 from Lincoln University's Theological Seminary — a Presbyterian seminary — to obtain a licentiate from the Chester Presbytery for purposes of preaching the gospel. He apparently preached virtually every Sunday in different churches in Philadelphia,
New York, or Washington. Since the Christian ministry was not his real calling, he did not choose to move a step further by being ordained as a minister. A second extramural activity was manual labor, including work at a shipbuilding and dry dock company near Philadelphia".
Nkrumah was an early victim of McCarthyism, just like Charlie Chaplin too who moved to Switzerland.
This bloke should tell us what democracy and human rights records Uncle Sam had for Blacks in even the 1960s.
Black Panter members were being shot in bed in their sleep! Instigators of bomb throwers under Nkrumah like JB and Obetsebi Lamptey were lucky there weren't shot on sight!

History and its twists...
The history of human civilization is a fight against all that is old and impede the development of society.
The history of human civilization is thus the battle between the old and the new.
Sometime in Europe when the Polish scientist Corneniculus said that the world is round the Catholic Church which believed that the world is a plate floating on water force him to drink the hemlock.
After decades Isaac Newton came to the same conclusion that the world is round and there is a force that keep things on Earth attached to it or fall to it, which he called the force of gravity.
Isaac Newton was imprisoned by the Catholic Church and was to face the fate of Corpaniculus but was saved by the time in which he was.
The capitalist see their socioeconomic system as a religion and some god, so they don't give people the chance tor criticize it.
Karl Marx and two of his children were starved to death because he criticized capitalism and this incident took place in London in the 1950s.
Kwame Nkrumah whiles studying in the U.S. wrote his thesis "Neocolonialism The Last Stage of Imperialism", in which he criticized the overt and covert means that the imperialist use to have socioeconomic hold on their former colonies. Thus according to Kwame Nkrumah a country is deemed to be independent but the life of the people of that country is in the hands of the puppet masters in the west and their monopoly doll masters.
Kwame Nkrumah's thesis heat imperialism with such a force that they will not allow it to be published and the student who wrote it be awarded a PHD.
It is a fact that in spite of the various socioeconomic works written by both Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin no university in the west awarded them PHD.
It is also a fact that the Christian churches that the colonialist established here serve as their spies, together with the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides who are trained young in the trade of agents for the various secret security services of the colonialist. The fact is that no Christian or Islamic clergy seek the interest of his country and that of Africa.
The winning of the presidential race in the U.S. by Donald Trump has revealed more that the the security services listen to the telephone calls and read emails of every U.S. citizen. So in the U.S. big brothers watches what people say and do, and not only that they listen to the telephone calls and read emails of various people around the world, people who are not U.S. citizens.
Let us try our best to avoid intellectual hypocrisy. Or let us go straight and tell this writer that he is no intellectual because he does not have a grasp of what he wrote about or that he is just a tool in the hands of someone else, a puppet in a puppetry theater.

Your argument for people to stop extolling the virtues of Nkrumah is porous at best and below your academic prowess at worst.
You are not the only person who grew under Nkrumah's Regime. So, you cannot claim any irrefutable facts that generalize what folks lived through under the late President.
For all the ills you listed as being Nkrumah's sins, I would emphatically state that they make no news at all. People have long known of them, discussed them in much more detail, and in the context of the kind of political climate that existed in those days.
Your personal experience in the Young Pioneers and other stuff pales in comparison to those of others. Yet, when we evaluate the role of folks like Nkrumah in our political history, Ghana's and Africa's, it is not the single experience of someone like you that defines the outcome.
I, for one, believe we have to evaluate and appreciate the individual positive contributions of all our political forebears. And in assessing these folks in totality, their we have to be honest enough to do so in the proper contexts.
How would you like to continue ruling if your opposition was always, incessantly, trying to kill you, if you were a Head of State? Nsawam (the PDA) act did not just spring up out of some dark criminal mind of Nkrumah's. It might have been an act of desperation but to many, it was necessary to counter the murderous behavior of the Opposition, including some of your own Anloega folks. I wonder how you think of the Gitmo, kept by the USA, today.
No one is forcing you to side with those who extol Nkrumah. You are at liberty to disagree with them. But remember that you alone do not have all the facts, and you cannot create your own. The conclusion of those who appreciate him is drawn from a collection of provable facts about the man.
And despite the fact that Nkrumah was honored with his Doctoral degree, he had done most of the work for that academic degree when he left for the UK. The Lincoln University in Pennsylvania where he was studying has even posthumously endowed him with the degree. He did not get from some obscure College that you may have graduated from.
Besides, his authorship alone, would dwarf your paltry one book you are promoting here to announce to the World your membership in the PHd. Club of Ghana.
In case you haven't noticed, or unless you have your own personal beef to grind with Nkrumah, most of those you claim support his cause and attack his critics would be often only reacting to the dishonest accounts by those critics of him just to discredit the man. Many of his current critics happen to be folks whose relatives fell on the wrong side of Nkrumah's response to their horrible quest for his assassination.
The dictatorial phase of Nkrumah's regime, as abhorrent as it was, also erupted from both the behavior of the Opposition and the cynical Cold War environment that we were caught up in during those days.
So, don't think just by evoking your doctoral status confers on you any exceptional credibility to your account or assessment of Nkrumah.
There are issues that Danquah or Busia or even Rawlings deserves some credit and honest folks must recognize that. No one is perfect. So, it is the totality of the person's faults and deeds that we need to take into consideration in assessing him or her. Your late effort to change how Nkrumah fares in the annals of our political history fails to change a whit of the facts, and history.
