Letter to the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister

Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister with President Akufo-Addo Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister with President Akufo-Addo

Moses , Nana II

You are welcome as the new Regional Minister of our region, the land of my birth and the land of historically courageous and peace-loving people who always aspire to ensure the prevalence of justice, peace and tranquility. The joy of learning that you have been appointed and confirmed as the new Regional Minister outweighed my reason to come to congratulate you for achieving such a great feat. Congratulations sir and I think it is worthwhile that you are carried shoulder high through the region as a re-enactment of the story that the stones the builders rejected has become the corner stone.

In fact, I would have been very disappointed if dozens including known ‘against’ had not thronged your residence to celebrate your success with you.

But I seek to advise that you do not allow the joy of the position overcome your determination to transform our forgotten region as you promised. Know that many have been in that office and were seen a ‘disappointments’ simply because they failed to honor their promise to the region.

Hon. Minister, my attention has been drawn to a lot of issues going on in the region and within our party which i am not happy with and I wish to bring it to your attention first of all as Minister and also chairman of the party in the region. I have been reliably informed that, favoritism, cronyism, and Political hypocrisy are becoming much within your office and among the regional executive.

Hon. Minister, kindly permit me to explain these words ‘’favoritism, cronyism and Political hypocrisy”.

Favoritism is just what it sounds like; it is favoring a person not because he or she is doing the best job but rather because of some extraneous feature-membership in a favored group, personal likes and dislikes, etc. Favoritism can be demonstrated in hiring, honoring, or awarding contracts. A related idea is patronage, giving public service jobs to those who may have helped elect the person who has the power of appointment.

Cronyism is a more specific form of favoritism, referring to partiality towards friends and associates. As the old saying goes, "It's not what you know but who you know," or, as blogger Danny Ferguson put it, "It's not what you don't know; it's who your college roommate knows." Cronyism occurs within a network of insiders-the "good old boys," who confer favors on one another.

Political hypocrisy is "the conscious use of a mask to fool the public and gain political benefit."

Sir, do not get mad at me on what you are about to hear neither do i want you to be like the former regional minister who called GETFUND not to approve my financial aids because I am an NPP Member and always speaking against his government.

Sir, my worry is all about Asunafo South, Atebubu/Amantin, Asutifi South, Dormaa, Tain and Sunyani, Municipal and District Chief Executives-MDCEs positions being lobbied. It is very much as if you have so much self interest in who becomes head in these municipal and district assemblies. Surprisingly, I am of the view that your dual position as head of region and party should have made you play a more neutral role.

The region is of important significance to the political landscape of this nation and its socio-economic and infrastructural development should match this level of significance and for this reason competence, efficiency and effectiveness of political heads is of much essence.

Mr. Minister, we the people of Brong Ahafo, especially the youth, pleads with you to allow laid down procedures and regulations work. We will also entreat you to advice your various self appointed aides to respect human dignity and life achievements including age of all persons in and of the region.

You should note that the effect of election 2020 starts with how you are handling preliminary issues such as this. You have the right to doubt what have been said but you should have it at the back of your mind that, the over whelming victory in the region was not as a result of your hard work but because of the wind of change that blew in the whole nation. Ghanaians were fed up with the incompetence and corrupt nature of the then Mahama led administration coupled with the fact that Ghanaians wanted to honor Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo for his patience and contribution to the socio-political development of the nation.

Let us have men and women who will make the various assemblies attractive to investors who will help create employment in the region. The party came into power with an agenda to create jobs and make livelihood better. The region has lots of natural resources and available labor to support productivity. It is time we benefit directly from the natural resources in the region. This can only be achieved when we have competent, efficient and effect but not Chairman’s/Minister’s favorite as head of the various assemblies.

I wish you all the best as you have started your first ever service to Region, Country and God.

Thank you.

God bless Ghana
God bless Brong Ahafo
God bless Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo
God bless us all

Sincerely Yours,
Nana Moses II
