People like you, K. Badu, do have the propensity to write and post misapplied and misdirected articles couched as advice for governments in Ghana yet can be clueless on a whole host of things. Government successes have never been about writing laws but about enforcement. Enforcement, guess what, K Badu, is not about laws on the books but about personnel and priorities of government. Under past governments in the USA, the EPA had been staffed, provided with reasonable budgets and encouraged to enforce environmental laws including the authority to ask other government agencies to conduct environmental impact studies on environment and community by a proposed business project. Under the brand new Trump administration they have made it clear they could care less about the environment and or enforcement of laws on the books.
What Agency in Ghana is tasked with enforcing activities of galamsey operators in Ghana and or business activities period? What rules are they to enforce and what are the Agency staffing level and or budget to carry out its mandate? Yet Ghana's government has not hesitated and or shied away selling citizenship to anyone who promises to invest $500,000 or less in Ghana. There was never conditions specifying business activities, operational conduct and or adherence to any of our laws. This is what we get from a nation of educated and uneducated alike who do not know the difference between wisdom and booksmarts. The politics of comparing or ascribing credit to Nkrumah or UGCC stalwarts has not been about wisdom but has always come down to tribal understanding of smarts. Why would the NPP newly minted Akufo-Addo government use the Ghana@60 to talk about J.B. Danquah and or Nkrumah at a time when the problem with Ghana is unemployment? Our unemployment problem is not driven access or lack of access to education when there are no job vacancies anywhere in Ghana where any company is actively recruiting "qualified" candidates from outside Ghana What is the wisdom derived from the Nkrumah and J.B. Danquah comparison by Akufo-Addo and how did it help solve unemployment and or improve lives in Ghana? For as long as we continue to not play wise but pin our hopes on classroom educated by ignorant folks we will continue to compare modern day Ghana to an era long gone in other nations.
