J J Rawlings and J A Kuffour were given houses as part of their package. Mahama is not going with a house package that is why he is receiving 40% of his monthly salary as rent.
So all former Presidents including Mahama and the president elect will be receiving the same amount.

I am ???? sure many Ghanaians middle class in Ghana and abroad like UK and US earn the same as our president. I know many nurses in UK will be earning similar monthly pay if you include the bank, agency work. This is a fact as I work as nurse in UK. Hmmm

Politics indeed is the way to wealth in Ghana. By international standards, our public officials are not well paid but compared to what ordinary people earn in Ghana then these amounts are obscene. In fact, it is criminal especially if you add all the freebies they get and the poor leadership they offer. Take the case of a graduate teacher who completed school with the Okudzeto's and Ofosu Kwakye's. He gets 300 cedis a month while they get 14000 cedis. In addition, Hon Okudzeto and Ofosu Kwakye get a V8, a cook, a driver and enjoy per diem. The graduate teacher has non of these things and is even lucky to get paid at the end of the month. How fair is this?
