It is a pity that people see Nana's self-confidence as arrogant and violent. I have known Nana since the 50's. We were mates at the then Government Boys Junior school at Adabraka and continued to the Accra Government Boys Middle School (AGBMS)now Kinbu school in 1956 before he and his siblings left for the UK to continue with their education. Infact my younger sister was Nana's younger sister's mate at the Accra Government Girls School (adjacent to the Ghana Law School, Makola). Nana has been an extrovert throughout his life. Those closer to him know him to be jovial and affable. Maybe Nana's weakness is his abhorrence to injustice and corruption which is very pervasive in our country today. It is a pity that people who could pass for Nana's grandchildren with no practical life experience just get up and call him names. Sam George should be cautious when he attacks Nana. SG is young and has a bright future ahead of him only if he will show humility. PRIDE BEFORE FALL!!!!

They've tried over 2 decades to destroy the man, who's arguably the most experience and courageous African political figure. What the hell these swines keep disturbing our ears with their stupidity!

So intelligent as you would want us to know, after perusing the gentleman's article you could not comprehend the import of the article either. And you then chose to hurl insults. You are indeed a chalatan who wants to assume superior mind status. Free tutorials: The gentleman's article is about the difference between assertiveness and violence----and obviously there is wide chasm between them. There is also difference between the author and vitriol Sam George.

K. Badu, you are entitled to your opinion but not the facts. You have only used the facts in such a way as to give some credence to your position on this issue.
Whether or not Nana Addo could be said to be a violent person, does not only predicate upon whether or not his alleged incitement for others to violence really led to violence or he indulged in a physical act of violence in person.
Many people would rationally accept Sam George's position so long as they see Nana's utterances as instigation to violence. The question one has to ask to prove or discount such notion is whether any such threatening effusions from Akufo-Addo could be proven to have contributed to any act of violence by his supporters or sympathizers.
Many would surely believe Akufo-Addo's utterances did encourage, say, the life-threatening Machete and Guns attack on the NPP Headquarters in pursuant of Afoko and Agyepong. Numerous such incidents have occurred attributable to Akufo-Addo's supporters, while he either reluctantly or never came out to denounce.
Followers take cue from their leaders. And the many such violent incidents that have occurred in the NPP that Akufo-Addo remained silent over constitute a rational and logical basis for some to see him as condoning or tolerating violence. And if he had at any time uttered anything remotely resembling an instigation to violence, that could be logically tied in to the behavior observers have experienced with his group.
This is not a plausible locus for determining what the Queen's English defines as 'Violent'. For all intended purposes, one could be both assertive and violent. And one could be just one or the other, as well.
The suggestion that Sam George made of Akufo-Addo was clear enough, and perfectly understandable but subject to validation. It is not his use of the word 'Violent' that poses any ambiguity.
One might argue, just as you did, summarily, that Akufo-Addo is or isn't violent only from his behavior that he has actually engaged in.
Facts abound to prove that even though he might not have, personally, been seen to indulge in an act of physical violence, he has been heard to say things that encourage others to take to violence. And that is good enough for many to claim he is violent.
What Akufo-Addo has said that Sam George and others have taken to characterize him as violent is not just some benign non-violent assertiveness. Akufo-Addo's 'All die be die.." utterance was not made in isolation but in tandem with incidents of violence at Atewa and Kyerepone. He added in the same breath that spewed that unwholesome, unstatesmanlike, and notorious thinly veiled endorsement of violence that his group showed the opponents a little lesson in those incidents. To wit in Akan vernacular: '..Atewa ne Kyerepone, yekyeree won biribi kakra'.
Sir, I wish you would not make excuses for such blatant endorsement of needless socially insalubrious bravado as Akufo-Addo displayed.
And that is exactly what Akufo-Addo did. And that can be perfectly defined as a violent behavior. You may not like Sam George's political spin on that claim but does not take away from the essence of the argument that Akufo-Addo showed a violent trait by those 'All die be die..' comments, and later by more attributes to further deepen that notion about him.
Long Live Ghana!!!
