Avram Grant and maturity

Black Stars Coach Avram Grant Black Stars Coach Avram Grant

Couple of weeks ago the head coach of our senior national team the Black Stars, Avram Grant was under media scrutiny after the Ghana Football Association expressed worry regarding his long stay away from his job in Ghana.

I was one of those who thought the FA should have handled the matter quitely because they (FA) should have, by now agreed with the coach based on contract clause his work schedule and itinary.

Even though the media reaction was excessive on the coach and the Ghana Football Association was applauded, it was a healthy exercise.

Have you observed the maturity and the professionalism Coach Grant exhibited when he finally arrived back to post?

He strategically managed to discontinue the debate on his late arrival with presence at our league matches especially those that were telecast live and captured seated with the FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi.

The preparation for the double-header Afcon 2017 qualifier with Mozambique offered him another platform to further nib in the bud the talking point on his effectiveness and respect for our premiership with call up of local players to the Black Stars.

He conclusively showcased his sportsmanship and maturity as an experienced Coach at a press interaction after a training to have stated that he and the FA have resolved the impasse between them and so therefore, there is no borne to pick.

(Not verbatim)

I was attracted by the enviable maturity of a coach with vision, sense of man-management, knowledge in conflict resolution and a very good communicator especially with the media.

I wish other coaches will learn from this episode to enrich themselves with these weapons of mass achievements as it were.

It would have been a chaotic moment for Ghana if it had been any other person without the above mentioned qualities.

Wish the Black Stars all the BEST.

It is just my perspective born out of observation.
