Volta region NPP- Are they alright?

Opinion Opinion

Ash FM, a Kumasi - based radio station has reported in their 6 o'clock pm news that, the Volta Region segment of the NPP has held a Press conference at Ho, objecting to a proposal by the national council of Elders, that Paul Afoko must be interdicted from office as national Chaiman, at least, until after the 2016 general and Presidential elections.

This Regional branch of the Party are flimsyly arguing that both Paul Afoko, and Kwabena Agyapong are being hated for no apparent reason.

They further contend that both Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong were duly elected to hold their current positions at a Tamale conference, just as Nana Addo was elected at a congress. It is therefore unfair for them to be suspended, they concluded. This has all along been the mantra, sung by the Afoko /Kwabena Agyapong agenda 2020 clique.

It may be recalled that the national council of Elders have written formally to the national disciplinary committee, asking for Afoko to be summoned to a disciplinary hearing, following which event, if he is adjudged to have conducted himself in anyway untoward, they have recommended his formal interdiction to last until after the 2016 elections.

This requested action is in line with the Party's disciplinary procedures in the Party's constitution. They have outlined a host of reasons for demanding his suspension. This request does not include Kwabena Agyapong, therefore, as to why Kwabena Agyapong has been mentioned in this Press conference suggests something very fishy. Are they not suggesting themselves to be the "agenda 2020" companions?

In my opinion, if the Volta Region NPP think they have any defence for Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong, they have every right to present it to the disciplinary committee, rather than making sentimental ad publicam appeals with no cogent point raised.
