It is sad the first country to get independence in Africa can not govern itself. If Ghana does not bring the whiteman back early enough, it will end up like its big brother, Nigeria, ..with a quarter of the country under jihadists control and 80 percent of the country leave under a dollar a day but it has been among the top ten oil producers for the last 50 years..
...It is good that God created whiteman, if the blackman messes up, at least there is a whiteman as a last resort to help. Even if the whiteman cheats the blackman in the process ( screw him a bit).
Same players, actually the player who went to brazil were more talented and more experienced than this team...and were promised more money, but the white man achieved more with less...

Avram Grant deserves commendation because he has successfully married flair with the three traits missing from the team at the 2014 World Cup; organization, balance and tactical discipline.

As soon as Gyan handed the captains band to Dede I said to my freind whom i was watching with, history will repeat itself. To me Ghana did well and Gyan should have stayed in the game and Ghana will not have lost this game. He was the man the team Ivory Coast feared and as soon as he departed from the pitch it changes the entire players. The leader has run away so let us do anything and just go home. This was the moment for Gyan to be crown a hero but he missed it because of fear of some irritrate Ghanaian supporters. Gyan should know this is the occupation he has been called for and must do all he can to avoid such mistakes next time. Dede would never have handed the captains band to anyone if he was the main captain that day. God bless Ghana and better luck next time.

When I hear this statement of "He promised his mother he was not going to kick penalties again...", I get lost and feel dizzy. Can our soldiers who defend our homeland Ghana from foreign invaders, say they promised their parents not to defend Ghana again so they too are going to stay away from defending Mother Ghana until our country is defeated? This is nonsense. Soccer is Gyan's profession, and he has to do it with all his might, will, strength and even to the extend of losing his life as a soldier will do. Soldiers lost their lives for Mother Ghana for the freedom you and I enjoy today. I don't care if Gyan had taken the kick and missed it. I would have loved it that way and I was going to be the first person to praise him for that courage. But running away from it, makes him now a coward warrior. And it is true "Cowards die many times before their real death..." I don't care how you spin it, toss it, or turn it, Asamoah Gyan is a coward warrior who allows the fear of a penalty kick to go under his skin and intimidate him, in spite of all the "Azonto dance"he had graduated in. Keeper Barry of Ivory Coast was scared in taking the penalty but he allowed his tremendous fear to become his only courage. So he played all those tricks by pretending he had a lot of Lactic acid build up in the muscles of his legs. Instead of performing "Azonto dance", he rather went in for the "Bee dance", falling onto the pitch and doing all those funny stuff to drive away his fear, until he gathered himself and kicked and became the unthinkable hero the world has ever had. Unlike a whole captain running away, and could not dance that Azonto dance to shake off his fear. He failed that test that day. I do appreciate all that he has done for the Black Stars (both good and bad) and he is a human just like us all, but the fact is, he could not cut it on that day. Please get over that fear and come out and become a perfect penalty-kicker and stop that fallacy of "I promised my mom ..." We will all be accountable to our Almighty God in the end and not our "Moms". Do your nation a big favor because God has given you that strength and life and not be intimidated by fear of the unknown, Gyan please. Be a man and warrior and stop running away from your ownself.(Bob Marley reiterated).

The problem with many Ghanaians is that we're ungrateful and abusive! Mr. Kwasi Nyantakyi and the FA have done a great job by contracting a clever coach live Avram Grant, who has been able to reach the AFCON finals against no small team like Ivory Coast, only to lose out on penalty kicks. People should admit that the final game was a thriller!
The Black Stars played one of the best games in recent times esp. in our WC-2014 game with Germany. We should commend Coach Avram Grant and Maxwell Konadu, and most importantly the gallant Black Stars, for adopting the strategies and instructions of the coach. This coach is no ordinary coach and I hope folks will honestly agree to this fact.
There's still a lot more to be done though, as the coach has already pointed out; it's a long-term project. Some of our players need to be polished and moulded into top-class players, esp. since many of them are playing professional football abroad. Continuity is the watchword here!
I'd like to take this moment to say a congratulate Coach Avram Grant for his vision and style of coaching, that's brought great results. Stay blessed Coach.
Congratulations also to our Black Stars. Keep it up and dream bigger; the sky is the limit!

Good article. Some fans on here myself included has questioned continually the logic where u21s are discarded and a new one called up only to be sold to overseas clubs and a new one called up again. We have also questioned why there is no platform for young ghanaian diaspora to show their temperament and how they can bring something different to the bs. A grant , konadu and bobo and malik jabr needs to work together. Call ups to u21 and u24 especially should be made more with bs and winning in mind than preparing local boys for sale. Also a grant tried out a 3-5-3 formation so could a local coachvwho has bs in mind try this formation in the local league?any brave and modern coach out there in the local league? Go ghana go. God bless ghana always.

What an article! Thank you for spitting everything out for all to be aware of what needs to be known. This is nothing whatsoever in this article elevates an argument but an agreement. People don't realized how much we have been hurting these our own, children, and heroes who have devoted their time and their sweat to stand in for us even when we are incapable to do the same for our own country.
I recalled our defeat to Senegal in the group stage, how people we on this site bashing on these players. Few recognized the talents in this team. Most at times, we forget that not only these players are humans, as the writer pointed out, but we also forget that these are football games, or let me say matches, and so anything could happen as a result. Those who didn't give the team a chance to even come out from group stages, are these same people throwing blames on these same players who beat their odds. When you don't expect one to go higher, how in the world would you expect this same person to win anything? Does that make sense at all?
All we know is to blame instead of seeing the opportunities that come with unluck. It was just unfortunate that we lost thus battle but like the article mentioned, we have a solid foundation now, which we can build a durable team on. When was the last time we had such a solid defensive line like this one? Our years back, after Hans Adu Sapie left the team, have we had a better left full back like Abdul Baba Ramah? Oh my goodness, we were crying for full backs, but now both positions are secured. Daniel Amartey, waow, what a future talent, we now have all these defenders at our disposal, and still we are not happy about the prospects.
This tells there is something wrong with some of us. Ungrateful citizens is all I can say, if we can't see opportunities from all that has happened.

Hi folks and contributors in this forum you have raised very important issues but the real missing link is this. After singing and and praising God through ‘jama’ you have to come clean on the field to rely on Him only for His favors to win the match. What was goalkeeper Braimah sprinkling in the goal post before the match??? Could it be that brought negative ? or Can we say it reflected on his performance to miss the penalty and couldn’t save the other goal keeper’s kick. Remember, God does not share His glory with anyone and that ‘missing by inches’ could be the adverse effect of that weakest link.
