Dr Kwabena Adjei until recently wielded tremendous power and influence in the ruling party, NDC. His words carried and still do carry enormous weight so his recent allegations of bribery and fraud against some key person(s) in the NDC during their recent congress to elect party officials cannot be simply swept under the carpet. Such presidential indiscretions and such bungling, lead footed approach feed into the common held belief that the President is not interested in fighting corruption. This is too close for comfort and for the President to turn a blind eye to such allegations casts serious doubts about his commitment to fight corruption.
Secondly, Mr Portuphy's continued stay as NADAMO boss after his election as NDC General Secretary is a huge conflict of interest which should not be tolerated if the administration values the opinions of Ghanaians. It's also quite obvious that the Attorney General's office is not truly independent but a subsidiary of the President's office otherwise an investigation into Mr Adjei's allegations should have been already under way.
