Who are the Enemies of Asantehene?

? ? My attention has been drawn to a publication on Ghanaweb under its General News of Thursday, 26 September 2013, titled "Akufo-Addo’s men involved in plot to remove Otumfuo". This sycophantic publication was authored by "The Al-Hajj", a newspaper unrivalled in mediocrity, NDC partisanship and panders to all acts of mischievousness aimed at destroying her paymaster’s rivals to make her paymaster happy. It is no understatement to say "The Al-Hajj" newspaper is incomparable to the usefulness of "toilet roll". As we can use toilet rolls to make our backside clean, the NDC propaganda newspaper in question is a complete poison that defaces the backside of its users and defames its targets.

? Anyway, I do not read anything published by such a disgusting propaganda machine. It is an undeniable fact that many an Asante resident abroad that calls into any of the Ghanaian radio stations programmes abroad do lambast Asantehene for one reason or the other. Am I wrong to report it in an attempt to right the wrong that has given cause to the ongoing unpalatable situation?

? It hurts to tell the truth but in the end it brings comfort. I am not seeking the downfall of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as alleged by the malicious "The Al-Hajj" publication but rather seeking to strengthen him; seeking to empower Asanteman by ensuring he desists from any alleged irresponsible acts that may compromise his integrity if indeed, he has been involved and involving in such acts. Am I wrong to do that as a proud and honest Asante man?

? Where and how did the newspaper come by its allegation that people from Kumawu, Juaben and Ejisu are those baying for the blood of Otumfuo because of chieftaincy issues? What an irresponsible utterance by an irresponsible author! Are the tens of thousands of Asantes expressing their disgust at Asantehene if his involvement in the bribery allegation was true, all from the mentioned towns?

? Anyway, I am not the type that speaks only what the boss, the King or the leader wants to hear but the truth as it is, whether bitter, sweet or oxymoronic. If you do not stand, or intend, to gain personally from your acts, you will be selfless in the execution of your duties towards humanity and your country. You will fear no foe when discharging your duties and responsibilities in truth, and the truth shall set you free.

? Those individuals, stooges, political apologists, sycophantic newspapers with their agents and assigns, seeking to intimidate other persons, in pursuit of their selfish parochial-interests will not succeed. They will be questioned, exposed and obstructed at every inch on the way.

? This rogue newspaper under discussion accuses me of attempting to run down the NDC government through my published views. I have never sought to run down the John Mahama-led NDC government but the government, like a sailing ship, has run herself aground. Government is not run on the wheels, gears and brakes of propaganda. However, that is exactly what the Mills/Mahama and Mahama/Arthur-Amissah-led governments had, and have been doing. Do they not reward handsomely their radio phone-in serial callers to throw dust into innocent people’s eyes? Do they not reward newspapers like "The Al-Hajj" to publish slanderous materials about their political opponents? Do they not reward those able to insult their otherwise political enemies with Ministerial appointments and promotions? Doing as listed above, the country will never progress but stagnate, if not retrogress. Tell me if the above mentioned ways are how best a government is run to achieve satisfactory results acceptable to all?

? The enemies of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II are those that do not tell him the truth, do not want him to hear the truth but feed him with the false sweet words he may always want to hear. Until one knows his faults to correct them, or knows their weaknesses to improve upon them, the person can never progress in the way the public expects of him/her.

? Again, the enemies of Otumfuo could be those "Amanhene and seeming trusted friends" he has surrounded himself with. Nonetheless, they may not be feeding him with the right information.

? I have other urgent things to attend to so I will not needlessly dwell on discussing the views of a nation wrecking newspaper. The intentions of the author of the publication that has peeved me that much for its vileness is comparable to a saying that goes, "The sad senile fool would rather burn down his own country than to step down". ? Finally, I will strongly admonish Otumfuo to beware of those he surrounds himself with. Those always singing his praises night and day but without pointing out his shortcomings to him. These people are his enemies within. These people are those that he needs to watch closely but not those pointing his mistakes to him either constructively or destructively. Is it not said, "It does not belong to he who is leading to redirect their steps?" ?

Benjamin Franklin (17 January 1706 – 17 April 1790), an American inventor, journalist, printer, diplomat, and statesman once said, "Love your Enemies, for they tell you your Faults" or as others may put it, "Our critics are our friends, they show us our faults". I shall prefer to be a critic than a false friend as "The Al-Hajj" and Co. ? ? "Fools multiply folly". Be it known to the false friends of Otumfuo that it has never been my intention to bring him down but to make him aware of people’s current perception of him in case he would change the course of his direction. ? ?
