RE: Keta Beach SC to Face Stiff Sanctions

Keta Beach Soccer Club to Face Stiff Sanctions - Rejoinder

Sunset sports Keta is utterly dismayed by the negative media tactics being adopted by the Ghana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA) in covering up their attempts to shamelessly short change our club in the just ended beach soccer league, a development that lead our CEO to boycott the presentations.

We wish to once again state emphatically that events at the coronation games where sad and unfortunate but it was a legitimate protest against the GBSA’s attempt to use the presence of dignitaries to cage us into accepting Ghc2, 500 instead of Ghc5, 000 as our prize money without showing the courtesy of giving any explanations whatsoever.

From inception, Ghana beach soccer has unfortunately suffered from an autocratic leadership and insincerity from Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah who has now assumed the posture of a demigod in beach soccer. Our protest is a good spirited and needed event and not attempts to run down any individual but to allow beach soccer see a more positive and the desired development.

The leadership crises within beach soccer have already seen the breakdown of two management teams in a record period of less than two years and these developments are gradually affecting the games growth. Ghana beach soccer has suffered from misappropriation of funds which have led to the rampant fallouts between the President Yaw Ampofo Ankrah and his treasures during a short period. The current treasure rarely attends GBSA events and was conspiciouslly absent at the coronation games which will tell the story of the state of beach soccer in Ghana on its own.

A further proof to the mismanagement and money wrangling within the association is a recent “too sweet to be true” claim by executives that Ghc5, 000 which is the association money got missing in a taxi cab. Even if this claim is true, you might be tempted to ask questions of the caliber of people leading us. One would not have to be an inside person to understand what goes on in beach soccer with stories that Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah allegedly received thousands of cedis as sponsorship money in physical cash from a South African firm Clementia Contacto for the division one league last season. This are clearly cases of how funds are misappropriated within the GBSA. Treasures are ruined down within when they don’t play game and anyone who cares to be told can check from the two treasures we had so far who have not even stayed at post for 6 months.

We are excited to hear the GBSA will take disciplinary actions against the CEO of Sunset Sports Keta and the club is patiently awaiting the GBSA sanctions. We dare the GBSA to relate whatever sanctions that will be meted out to a clause in the statutes of the association that is against raising protest against illegalities. These are very interesting developments and we dare say we are in funny times indeed. We wonder if the incident at the arena is what our CEO would be sanctioned for or would be sanctioned for a related incident that took place behind the scenes.

On the day of the coronation, we can attest to the fact that our CEO Mr. Dzidodo Ruben Adjahoe was prevented by “Machomen” deployed by Yaw Ampofo Ankrah from raising a protest against their attempts to short change us. Mr. Ampofo Ankrah also issued threats of sanctions against our players and that his macho men would decent on the team if they don’t go ahead to receive the prizes. Even with his threats, our players did not receive the controversial dummy cheque of Ghc2, 500 because they are aware that is not what we competed for. The players of the club are very aware of every development and have held series of meetings with management to offer their support. Like management, they are utterly disappointed at the insincerity and underhand tactics being adopted by the GBSA. We wish to state here that every single player is supportive of the CEO and they wish not to be dragged into the GBSA’s negativity, criminal negligence and underhand tactics.

As a club we would at an opportune and appropriate time state our position on future involvement in GBSA activities under the leadership of Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah since our participation is obviously a major hindrance in his quest to have his favoured clubs achieve their objectives. We would not be outrun by any individual no matter the sort of reputation he carries or the power he yields and we would come out in the shortest possible time to tell the whole world what is going on within Ghana Beach Soccer.

In just two years, our achievements speak for us. We have won everything there is to play for. In a total game of 36 in the National league, we recorded just a single loss and have won two consecutive league titles and the Ghana Media Shield games. We can proudly state that we are the only club with honours in Ghana Beach Soccer. Our players form the core of the National team that represented Ghana at the African Championships in El Jadida Morocco but failed woefully due to the GBSA’s mismanagement. We wonder if persons within the GBSA are envious of us and want to run us down hence these raw deals.

Without doubts, all of our achievements would not have been possible without the hard work, dedication, good management skills, sacrifices and dexterity of our CEO Mr. Dzidodo Ruben Adjahoe. We won’t allow any money squandering individual to run him down. We laugh out loud at all attempts to call him names by individuals who don’t seek to achieve anything of their own in the game but are merely bed fellows and cronies of the disgruntled Yaw Ampofo Ankrah.

It’s surprising how anyone within the Ghana Beach Soccer fraternity talk about the character traits of Mr. Adjahoe when the gentleman hardly witness any beach soccer activities due to commitments with work on weekends. We wonder what sort of relationship they have with our CEO to call him a drunk. It is said in our local parlance “thieves easily recognize their colleagues” and it is easy to conclude the CEO of East Legon Sharks Mr. Yaw “Mozart” Gyamfi is a terrible drunk if he identifies drunks even from a distance. This can only come from desperate and disgruntled liars and individuals managing beach soccer in Ghana. The CEO of Sunset Sports Keta like any young adult has a social life and enjoys it to the fullest with God watching over us all.

Moving forward, we are be tempted to ask what affiliations are there with the world governing body FIFA if Ghana is to make some progress. We would leave that as food for taught.

Signed

Dzidodo Ruben Adjahoe
