Who wins SWAG Footballer of the year 2012?

…Kwadwo Asamoah, Emmanuel Clottey and Dede Ayew seek for votes.

The annual Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards night has been scheduled for the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra on Saturday, June 29 and one of the high moments of the ceremony will be the naming of the Footballer of the year for 2012.

Three top Ghanaian footballers have been nominated by the Association for the prestigious prize. They are Italy based Kwadwo Asamoah who plays for Juventus, Emmanuel Clottey of Esperance in Tunisia and Andre Morgan Dede Ayew.

All the three national stars excelled in the season under which the nominations were made. Kwadwo Asamoah and Dede Ayew did well in the African Cup of Nations Qualifiers and for their respective clubs, whilst Emmanuel Clottey was phenomenal in the African Cup Champions League scoring most goals for Berekum Chelsea and leading them to the money zone.

Members of SWAG have the majority vote after the sporting public had voted, and the winner takes the accolade and recognition as the Best Player of 2012.

The highest award on the night will be a contest between Black Stars player, Kwadwo Asamoah, Priscilla Okyere, captain of the Black Maidens who led the bronze medalists at the Girls World Under 17 in 2012.

On the local front, the Best Premiership Player is a fight between Yayha Mohammed of Amideaus Professionals, Michael Akuffo of Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak’s Mahatma Otoo also known as “The Beast”.
