Letter From The Castle!

I would like to present this letter on behalf of the President of Ghana to the People of Ghana.

Good evening, I, President Atta Mills, want to apologize to the Ghanaian public for the recent decisions that cast doubt upon our commitment to our mission of better Ghana Agenda we promised you.

The events surrounding the award of money to Francis Woyome have been deeply unsettling for me, my family and advisers. We have been distressed at the presumption that the payment made to our financier, Woyome, was done for political reasons or specifically to reward Mr. Woyome for his contributions to our party, NDC. I made a mistake!

Our original desire was to fulfill our fiduciary duty to our donors, which unfortunately includes Mr. Woyome and others you might not have known and might have received more than what Woyome was given. We need to do that so that they, donors, can give us more donations in the future. This is an election year and I believe you understand what I mean! Is that not right and fair? You know NPP has a lot more money than us, the NDC, and we need to match them boot for boot in this year’s elections!
It is our hope and believe that it is time for everyone involved to pause, slow down and reflect on how we could satisfy our benefactors effectively without blowing alarm on ourselves. We urge everyone who has participated in this conversation across the country over the last few days to help us move past this issue. We do not want our mission of BETTER GHANA Agenda to be marred or affected by this singular payment.
Starting today, we will have calls with our network of donors and key supporters to refocus our attention on our mission and get back to doing our work to provide amenities such as good roads, better healthcare centers, equip our schools and hospitals, provide better water supply and electricity for our factories and people. We ask for the Ghanaian public's understanding, indulgence and patience as we strategize on how we can move past this gargantuan issue and win the elections this year for 4 more years!
We extend our deepest thanks for the outpouring of support we have received from so many in the past and sincerely hope that the uneasiness we have shown by their anger by arresting Woyome will calm their nerves. As we find ways to reform our campaign finance, we plead with Ghanaians to bear with us!
Sincerely,
Attah Mills, President, Republic of Ghana!
