The Next Ghana Stars to hit the EPL soon

Ghana took the footballing world by storm at the 2010 World Cup reaching the quarter finals before losing on penalties to Uruguay. Their impressive showing in South Africa led to more Black Stars entering the spotlight and grabbing the attention of Europe's top clubs.

The Premier League has seen the influx of Ghanaian players over the past few years. From Michael Essien at Chelsea, John Paintsil at Fulham and Asamoah Gyan, Sulley Muntari and John Mensah all at Sunderland, the Black Stars seem well suited to the rigours of the English top flight.

So ahead of Ghana's friendly against England at Wembley, Goal.com UK decided to take a look at some more stars who might be heading to the Premier League in the coming years.

Andre Ayew (Marseille) Age: 21

Contract expires: 2014

Position: Left wing

Value: £7m

Linked with a move to: Arsenal and Liverpool

Andre Ayew's reputation grew with his stunning performances for Ghana in the 2010 World Cup.

He is a natural winger with pace and trickery, who plays mainly on the left side of a front three or the left side of midfield. He can also feature on the right.

There has been mounting speculation that Arsenal and Liverpool are set to battle it out for the Marseille star, who has been a regular in Didier Deschamps' team this season.

Kent Mensah: "Undoubtedly one of the emerging talents of the Black Stars setup, Ayew has matured over the years and proven to be one of Ghana's fastest rising stars and also a prominent member of the Marseille team.

"He is one of the gifted natural left-wingers, though not as highly rated as Tottenham’s Gareth Bale. He’s got the pace and dribbling skills to fit naturally in the English Premier League or Spanish La Liga. He proved his mercurial nature against Manchester United in the first leg of their Champions League fixture.

"The charismatic player has blossomed ever since he won the World Youth Championship and that translated in his dazzling performance at the Nations Cup, World Cup and in the French Ligue 1."

Kwadwo Asamoah: Age: 22

Contract expires: 2015

Position: Midfielder

Value: £15m

Linked with a move to: Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham.

Kwadwo Asamoah's impressive performances for Udinese have attracted the attention of some of England's biggest clubs.

He can control a game from the middle of the park and his passing ability is of the highest quality.

A stumbling block to any move to a Premier League club would be Udinese's valuation of the midfielder.

Asamoah, who is reportedly being chased by Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham, is valued in excess £25m.

KM: "The 22-year-old is arguably the most promising talent of the continent.

"Talk about the ability to caress the ball, to mesmerise his opponents and overwhelm fans and he’s got it. He’s got the right sense of judgment to create space with an accuracy level to assist with goals at both club and country.

"On his normal days, the playmaker can frustrate his opposite numbers resulting in fouls for his side.

"The Udinese midfield talisman has been Ghana’s creative force and can be a key element to most of the Premier League clubs, especially Chelsea should he make a move there."

Derek Boateng (Getafe) Age: 27

Contract expires: 2013

Position: Midfielder

Value: £4m

Linked with a move to: Tottenham, West Ham, Fulham and West Brom.

Derek Boateng has attracted a lot of interest from Premier League clubs because of his ability in a defensive midfield position.

He has plenty of experience after playing in La Liga for the past few seasons and would make a good acquisition for most sides in England's top flight.

KM: "Not much has been seen of the Getafe midfielder at the national level because of his style, but he is experienced enough to fit into the Premier League.

"Boateng likes to hold the ball a lot and any time he is partnering with an offensive midfielder he shines. Having made a mark for himself in Spain he would not perform below average in the Premier League."

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu (Udinese) Age: 20 Contract: 2013

Position: Midfielder

Value: £6m

Linked with a move to: Chelsea, Tottenham, and Liverpool.

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu's recent good form has not just attracted the attention of England's top clubs but teams across Europe as well.

Lyon and Osasuna both reportly have an interest in the Udinese midfielder.

He is a powerful midfielder who has physicality and the ability to scrap. These attributes appear to suit the English game but he is inexperienced and has picked up a few injuries over the past few seasons.

KM: "Having stood out at a big stage such as the Africa Cup of Nations right after the World Youth Championship, the midfielder has grown with confidence.

"He is compact in the midfield and has been a successful enforcer, especially with the Black Stars. Badu is the type who has no respect for experienced midfielders and can match them boot-to-boot without fear with his strength.

"He is highly touted as a possible replacement for midfield general Michael Essien. In the game against Ivory Coast in Angola he gave the likes of Didier Zokora and Yaya Toure a hell of time.

"He’s got the ability to push further upfront but has not been highly successful with his long-range shots at goal. Badu’s future is bright but injuries have not been fair to him and with time he could blossom to become a force to reckon with in the Premier League."
