Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, and the Christian Community in Ghana,

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

I write to you with a heavy heart, not in anger, but in love and in the spirit of Ephesians 4:15: speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.

1. The Unfortunate State of the Church Today Compared to the Days of Christ

When I look at the early Church in Acts, I see a people devoted to the Word, to prayer, to breaking bread and to the poor. Acts 2:42-45

Today, too often, what we see is different. The Church has become an *industry*. The pulpit has become a marketplace. Matthew 21:1: My house shall be called a house of prayer, but you make it a den of robbers."

We have traded discipleship for numbers, holiness for hype, and the cross for contracts. The prophetic, meant to be “for building up and encouragement and consolation" 1 Corinthians 14:3, has in many places become a tool for fame, fear and financial gain.

2. On the Prophetic: Ministry or Industry?

The Lord called prophets to be watchmen Ezekiel 3:17, not headline makers. The true prophet points people back to Christ. John 3:30: “He must increase, but I must decrease."

But in our time, the prophetic office has been commercialized. Prophecies are sold, fear is marketed, and spiritual authority is leveraged for political access. This is not the Spirit of Jesus who “came not to be served but to serve" Mark 10:45

3. Concerning the Statement: "Curse of the NPP Party" & Its Security Implications

I address this with both grief and deep concern for our nation. The NPP is a political party made up of Ghanaians, many of whom are our brothers and sisters in Christ. To pronounce a curse upon a group of citizens is a weighty matter with *serious security implications.

Scripture commands: “Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them." Romans 12:14

Jesus said: “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" Matthew 5:44

When religious leaders use the pulpit to curse, demonize, or delegitimize a group of people because of their political or religious identity, we open the door to division, hatred and violence.

History warns us. The genocide in Rwanda in 1994 was fueled in part by irresponsible speech from pulpits and media that dehumanized a group of people. Words were used to turn neighbor against neighbor.

James 3:5-6: “How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! And the tongue is a fire."

So I must ask: If one religious leader can rise up and curse a political party, what stops another from rising up to curse a different religion or an entire religious group and its followers? Where does it end?

Ghana is a beacon of religious tolerance. We cannot afford to import the language of division.

4. Conclusion: What Would Jesus Do?

So I ask the Christian community, and I ask Prophet Owusu Bempah as my brother in the Lord:

Would Jesus curse a political party?

What would Jesus do?

Would He not rather weep over the nation Luke 19:41, pray for its leaders 1 Timothy 2:1-2, and call all people to repentance 2 Chronicles 7:14? Would He not sit with tax collectors and Pharisees alike, offering them the gospel Luke 19:1-10?

The Church’s role is not to curse nations, but to be salt and light Matthew 5:13-14. It is to preach Christ crucified 1 Corinthians 2:2, to make disciples Matthew 28:19-20, and to seek the peace and prosperity of the city Jeremiah 29:7.

I am a proud member of the NPP. But above that, I am first a bondservant of Jesus Christ. My party affiliation must never be greater than my Kingdom citizenship Philippians 3:20.

Let us return to the old paths. Let us be a Church that heals, that serves, that sacrifices — not one that sells, and never one that incites.

I pray that God will grant us all repentance, wisdom, and unity. “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14
