Dr Muhammadu Indimi, a Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, has indicated his willingness to support efforts to transform Ejura in the Ashanti Region into a major agricultural and economic hub, with interventions spanning security, agriculture and social welfare.

Dr Indimi, who has become known for supporting vulnerable communities across Africa through education, healthcare and infrastructure projects, is expected to join the people of Ejura for the 2026 Ejura Yam Festival.

The event which is expected to attract hundreds of people, including government officials, traditional leaders and residents, who will join the Ejurahene, Barimah Osei Hwedie II, is aimed at celebrating the cultural heritage and agricultural importance of the local people.

This follows key intervention by Dr Idimi by way of supporting the building of police station in Ejura, to boost security in the area, widely regarded as one of the food baskets of the Ashanti Region and Ghana.

Support for security infrastructure

In October 2023, Dr Indimi was among key partners who supported the construction of the ultra-modern Ejura Divisional Police Headquarters.

The facility was constructed to serve the Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipality and surrounding farming communities.

Residents have since reported an improvement in peace and stability in the area, while the presence of a well-equipped police command has strengthened law enforcement and improved response to security incidents.

The development has also boosted confidence among residents, traders and farmers, whose livelihoods depend on a secure environment.

Orphanage project
Beyond security and agriculture, Dr Indimi is partnering with the Ejurahene, Barimah Osei Hwedie II, on another major intervention — the construction of an ultra-modern orphanage home in Ejura.

The project is intended to provide shelter and support for vulnerable children, including children who have been abandoned at birth.

Many such children face challenges including hunger, inadequate shelter and limited access to education and healthcare.

The proposed facility is expected to provide a safe and supportive environment while giving the children greater opportunities for a better future.

Special Guest at 2026 Ejura Yam Festival

Dr Indimi will also be the Special Guest of Honour at the 2026 Ejura Yam Festival scheduled for October.

The Ejurahene, Barimah Osei Hwedie II, announced his participation during the official media launch of the festival.

The week-long celebration will begin on October 16 and end on October 25, 2026.

Dr Indimi will participate in the main Durbar on October 24, 2026, alongside state officials, traditional leaders, residents and other invited guests.

Through his interventions in Ejura, Dr Indimi is seeking to support development across several areas, from security infrastructure and agricultural productivity to social welfare.

His involvement has positioned him as a key partner in efforts to strengthen peace, protect livelihoods, support vulnerable children and promote the agricultural potential of Ejura and the wider Ashanti Region.
