Berekum Chelsea are so good for their own good

A cursory glance at the performance of Chelsea in the 2010/11 Glo Ghana Premiership, an unbelievably magnificent run that has put them at the apex of the top flight and top billing for the tag of runaway league champions can best be attributable to sound management and good technical staff at the Berekum-based club. The coach, Orlando Wellington, very much knows what he is doing and Obed Nana Kwame Nketia as chief executive officer is the best in the country.

On the field, Coach Wellington has given all the 30-40 registered players in the camp of the league leaders the same platform. The on-going FA Cup matches could attest to this analogy. Chelsea is the only club in Ghana right now which had about 7 of their regular starters on national duty but honoured their FA Cup match against Ashantigold posting a 1-0 victory.

The competitiveness of the beautiful game in Ghana is deteriorating because once the rules stipulate the postponement of a game when a team provide 3 to 5 players to national team camp, the big clubs like Kotoko, Hearts and others have often taken advantage and do request the postponement of their matches when even only two of their players are called to national camp. Orlando Wellington did indeed say in an interview on Accra based radio station Oman FM before their FA Cup match against Ashgold that, he would not call for the postponement of the match despite having 7 players on national duty and explained that this will make the competition within his team strong and his players will always fight to their utmost ability because he gives all of them a chance to play.

Mr. Wellington has also entreated the Ghana FA to advise the other clubs to emulate what Chelsea have done and stop the unnecessary postponement of league and other competitive matches at the least excuse.

So if a club has a coach and technical staff like these why don’t they deserve to win the highly coveted league title? Even defending league champions Aduana Stars did make the authorities postpone their FA Cup tie of the same weekend because four of their players are in camp with the local Black Stars in Sudan representing the nation in the Championships of African Nations (CHAN).

Every team which has a rich bench is as a result of what coach Orlando Wellington and Chelsea are demonstrating now because the players are always in form because he gives each and everyone a chance.

lf you visit the CEO of the club, Obed Nana Kwame Nketia's residence at Obinka village in Berekum ,you need no one to tell you the guy is up for football business, his cordial relationship with his working staff, his generous features and his uncorrupted nature is what makes Chelsea thick. He is so honest that no wonder former national team star Tony Yeboah couldn't work with him and as a writer l will entrust him to the GFA to use more of his ideas to move Ghana football forward.

If you have Mr Kyeremeh who is ready to spend on the team, every player would wish to play for Chelsea. Giants Kotoko and Heats can continue to enlarge their winning bonuses paid players in the league but Berekum Chelsea with sound management has outwitted of all their past glories and l bet all my readers Chelsea is going to rule Ghana football for the next ten years.

The success of Chelsea is also attributed to the good support they have received at Berekum Golden City Park because with their teeming support, Chelsea is going to annex the league for the 2nd time to the people of Brong Ahafo.

The football loving fans in Sunyani, the capital of the region, should go and learn from Nana Kwame in Berekum how with their devil against attitude, walked Chelsea away from Sunyani Coronation Park last season but the team is now moving on successfully. l would say to Nana Kwame and the entire team of Chelsea to keep the performance they are putting up because of Chelsea Brong Ahafo is going to rule the league for so long a time. Chelsea ayekoooooooooooooooooooooo.
