The volta lake was originally designed to give us cheap source of electricity, but its potentials are beyond everyone’s expectations and imaginations.

Undoubtedly, the NPP’s defining moment was / is the free- SHS education policy. However, the establishment of the Volta Lake as a super economic zone in Ghana can equally be the NDC’s defining moment of our time and beyond.

Yes, not only the Volta Lake can single-handedly create enough jobs to solve our unemployment problems in Ghana, but it can also make us laugh all the way to the bank, so as to stop us from globetrotting and panhandling for loans (with a cutthroat interest rate).

The secondary industries (like security jobs, banking, salons, hotel and restaurant’s attendants, tour guards, building maintenance people, etc) that will germinate from the lake’s project are unlimited and unimaginable.

With the help of the lake and its multiple small islands, we can turn its corridors into tourism Mecca of the world.

We can top it off with cruise ships that can create an avenue for 24-hr entertainment hob, amusement parks, a zoo, hotels, malls, even a specialised hospital and many more life enhancement activities.

It’s also a perfect way to stop us from wearing kuntukuni on every weekend by putting cargo ships on it, to transport goods to and from our neighbours up north because our potholed-ridden roads have become graveyards of the nation.

I hope and pray that is not an impossible vision that can not stop the sons and daughters of this land ours from being globetrotters and college unemployment victims.
