Bring The CPP Party Back To Power

Less than two years from now, Ghanaians would be called to vote as customary. Ghanaians, in the mean time, are critically observing the performance of the ruling Party. Already, critics have it that the ruling Party is performing below par. President Mills, they argue, isn’t fulfilling his electoral promises. Personally, I don’t think that those promises, which were made by Atta Mills, would ever see the light of day. But then, Atta Mills knew it himself. He knew, as a politician, that Ghanaians are gullible. Luckily enough for him, he won over the trust of the people with his fake humility and became our president elect. Ever since the NDC Party came to power, it has been doing exactly what the previous party did. It has become politics as usual. Corporate politics, which became the trademark of the NPP Party, continues unabated. For instance, contracts--which should be given to Ghanaian-owned businesses, are awarded to outsiders. As a result, unemployment amongst the Ghanaian citizenry continues to rise. Simply because; Ghanaian-owned businesses cannot afford to employ Ghanaians.





In short; both the work and the monies needed to employ Ghana’s unemployed are given to foreign-owned companies. Undoubtedly, Ghana’s monies are being exported out of the country via these contracts. Thanks, of course, to Atta Mills and Co. Now, is this the change that we voted for? No, I don’t think so. The NDC is, without a doubt, killing Ghana’s economy by neglecting Ghanaian-owned businesses. When the NPP Party was in power, it did the unthinkable to Ghanaian-owned businesses. For instance; whilst foreign-owned companies were given contracts worth millions of dollars, Ghanaian-owned companies were given loans. Now, do you see the difference? Also, during the NPP Party’s stewardship of this country, public accountability was less to none. It’s estimated that millions, if not billions of dollars, were made. Sadly, none of these monies were invested in Ghana’s economy. These monies, more or less, evaporated. The over-expenditure, mismanagement, and recklessness--which characterized Kufour’s administration, depleted these monies to none. Exactly a year after the NPP Party was booted out of government, Ghana was back at the World Bank and the IMF with a beggar’s cup in hand. With this kind of history, do we need the NPP Party back in power come 2012? No, I don’t think so.





It’s evidential that both the NPP and the NDC Party don’t have what it takes to govern Ghana. These two Parties have had eight years each to prove themselves. So far, the results have been disappointing. For instance, Ghana’s currency--which could be backed with gold to empower the currency, remains an idea unattended. Even the United States, which isn’t a gold exporting country, uses gold to back its currency. Hence, the power of the dollar. Our economists in Ghana know that this could be done. So, why aren’t they doing it? Better yet, who or what is stopping them? Ex president Kufour is an economist. At least, this is what we have been told. However, not once did he propose this idea during his eight-year long tenureship. Therefore, the question is; did he know or didn’t he know? I am sure that he knew, but he was too unpatriotic to care. But then, ex president Kufour, I believe, was more tilted towards the Corporate interests of the West. The interests of Ghana wasn’t his first priority.Regrettably, Atta Mills, who many expected not to do what Kufour did, is imitating his predecessor. He too is bypassing Ghanaian-owned businesses for foreign companies. Now, how does he expect to build Ghana’s economy with this kind of attitude?





Folks, in order for Ghana to build a competitive socio-economy, both the NPP and the NDC Party must be forsaken. I mean, truly. These two political Parties don’t care about the interests of Ghana. They say that they do, but they don’t mean it. These two political Parties are only there to export Ghana’s monies to the West, that’s all. It’s time, therefore, that we reach out for something else. A Party which understands the needs of the people. The CPP Party, in my opinion, offers a better alternative. During the sixteen-year tenureship of both the NPP and the NDC, tax monies--as a result of employment, was minimum. But then, job creation for the masses was less to none. Also, affordable public houses build by Ghanaian contractors were utterly abandoned. A welfare and an address system were given no thought at all--let alone the notion of City Planning. Our education system, as you all know, remains in ruin. Folks, we cannot tolerate the negligence of the NDC and the NPP Party any longer. Hence, the need to bring the CPP back to power. Ghana has been neglected for far too long by these two main Parties. Enough should be enough. We say no more to their nonsense. Let’s change or let’s perish. What do you say?
