Black Stars And The Imported Magic Of Horse Placenta Treatment

Did the stars rather desert their God?

... She is also understood to play up the "alternative" side of her work with, darkened rooms and lots of candles..." mtnfootball 30/06/2010
I was surprised to read this and wondered what it was all about and now In context;
"Ghana have turned to an effective horse placenta healer from Serbia to solve the injury crisis which is threatening its World Cup campaign, MTNFootball can reveal.
Marijana Kovacevic, who is famous in world football through the application of traditional Serbian healing to her world-class football star clients, arrived in South Africa on Wednesday to take charge of the recovery of several Black Stars players.
Ghana are sweating over the fitness of Kevin Prince Boateng, Hans Sarpei, Asamoah Gyan, John Mensah, Andre Ayew ahead of their quarter final clash with Uruguay. Some players in the squad also have knocks and stubborn injuries which prompted the Ghana FA (GFA) to approach Kovacevic's methods of healing the players... "All I can say is this is football. We had the historic opportunity to reach the semi finals. We had a penalty but you saw it all... Looking back now, it seems like everything was directed by someone else." ----Ghana's Coach Milovan Rajevac.

Meanwhile...

"Marijana Kovacevic has apparently gone underground after health inspectors, accompanied by policemen, wanted to visit her private clinic in Belgrade last week. The health authorities say the pharmacology doctor turned physiotherapist has been practicing without a license... Her former patients seem to have nothing but praise for the unorthodox methods of Kovacevic, who has dodged the media since her newfound fame and is not giving interviews or allowing photos of her to be taken... " supersport.com 22/11/2009

Asamoah Gyan is quoted before the match;
"when I am 100 per cent fit, I know what I can do on the field and I thank God for that" – but instead he left the field a desolate, tear-stained figure,... the independent, UK, 3/7/10

The same woman treated injured Serbian players, same method, prior to their match with Australia of which Serbia lost. Yesterday it was a boxer who ate 'kanwe' in America, today it's been Black Stars that arranged quickly for an unplanned mysterious alternative medicine. I think some lessons of carefulness can be learnt here.
And If indeed a complementary medicine was needed, right here on the African soil, did Africa lack that too? Did we really have to import this?
