Thank you very much, Kofi.

Last week, at a public meeting in Washington, DC, a Togolese political activist made a statement complaining about Kufuor's role in what is considered human rights abuses by the Eyademas. The complainant wanted to know Kufuor's motivation.

I had to leave the meeting before I could respond to the question. Had I responded, I was going to say that Togo had been the staging ground for terrorist attacks by the UP (Togoland Congress included) against Nkrumah and his compatriots.

Would it be fair to state that the NPP, a derivative of UP, is tied to the Eyademas because enemies of Nkrumah are the friends of Danquah and Busia? ("Les amis de nos amis sont nos amis?" or something like this, pardon my French.)

As a high school student in post-independence Ghana, a large number of my mates happened to be Togolese and at the time some of us kids did not know why. The situation was such that after 5 years at GSTS I could understand Ewe, as an Akan, because most of my personal friends at school were Ewes.

Thanks once again. I wish this piece of yours were expanded for the benefit of a whole lot of people to appreciate Nkrumah's vision of Fee-free Compulsory Education which some take for granted today.

Forward Ever!
