And They Call Themselves Democrats?

“We believe in democracy” “We believe in the rule of law”, “we are not a violent party” “we believe in good governance”, “we believe in free speech” bla bla bla: these are the tags that the NPP has contrived for itself.

As KSM keeps saying, “truth crushed to the ground will always rise up”.

The NPP has been trying very hard to paint the NDC black in order to hide its failings.

The NPP, as the unadulterated political records of this country have it, belongs to the most violent political tradition in Ghana.

It is a fact that the UP, forebears of the NPP, introduced bombs into the politics of Ghana.

It is a fact that the UP introduced coups into the politics of Ghana.

It is fact that when it comes to killing political opponents, the UP are the masters of such a dastardly act.

The pretence has come to an end, and no less a person than Allan Kyeremanteng, has left the fold of the most violent political tradition in Ghana.

Today, all the whitewashing of the dirty image of the NPP has come to knot, and the whole world knows it for a fact that the NPP is inherently violent and that nothing will make it change its violent nature.

Indeed, apart from the NPP being inherently violent, the person who is leading that tradition, Akufo Addo, carries almost 50% of the NPP’s violent and undemocratic nature.

Allan has left the NPP because Akufo-Addo and his faction have continuously harassed and hounded supporters of Allan.

What crime did Allan commit?

His crime was that he dared to contest Akufo-Addo and gave the man a run for his money.

So for giving Akufo-Addo a contest of his life, Allan has had to face persecution.

As far as Akufo-Addo and his faction are concerned, Akufo-Addo was born to lead the NPP and so Allan had no right to contest.

Another crime that Allan Cash committed, was to ask the party executives to investigate the Gestapo tactics that Lord Commey employed at the party’s undemocratic congress.

Allan wanted to get to the bottom of how Lord Commey deliberately employed the scaremongering tactics to whip up resentment for he and his boys and that did not go down well with Akufo Addo and his faction so they had to be harassing and beating up Allan’s people, as well as preventing them from taking part in the party’s primaries to elect parliamentary candidates.

And Akufo-Addo and his people claim to be adherents of democratic principles? Certainly not!

Is democracy not about ideas and personalities competing?

So why should Akufo-Addo and his faction be hounding Allan and his people?

Allan did not only leave the party, but made it abundantly clear that he was leaving for reasons of he and his people facing serious persecution from Akufo-Addo and his faction.

It is not surprising that the plaint section of the media are awestruck that their party is imploding and are on all fours begging Allan to return to the party.

In the NPP, when people beat up themselves and leave the party, they say it amounts to the “deepening of internal democracy”. Laughable indeed!

How can democracy be deepened via brutal assaults on innocent persons?

Was democracy deepened by the slapping of that chief in Kumasi whose only crime was appearing at a vetting committee meeting?

The deception has come to and end and all right-thinking persons now know the NPP for what it is.

If a heavyweight like Allan Cash can be hounded out of the NPP, only God knows the number of persons who are suffering at the lower end of the NPP.

The NPP is a violent party that does not believe in upholding the tenets of democracy and it can no longer hide its undemocratic nature.

Even if the NPP gets Allan to rescind his decision, it will not change the fact that Allan and his people have suffered intimidation and harassment from Akufo-Addo and his faction as well as the fact that in the NPP, it is a crime for anybody to contest Akufo-Addo.

Akufo-Addo and the NPP are on the road to perdition and nothing will stop the narcotics peddlers party from imploding.
