The Norwegians at GT

Countrymen and women, loyalists and opponents I have read the newspaper reports about the hefty salaries being taken by the Norwegian managers at GT and I am very ashamed and appalled. I am also very jealous. But I am not as shocked as many of you are (and will want me to be).

I will address the issue presently but let’s take a moment to look back at the days when there was no GT and no cell phone companies. In those days we had a Post and Telecommunication Corporation (aka P&T). It was a very prestigious state-run company to work for at the time. They did very well in making sure that people’s letters and parcels were posted and delivered on time – i.e. when staff realise that the parcels and letters are too worthless to be stolen. The telecoms aspect of the operations of the defunct P&T was, however, a total sham. There were too few telephone lines, which were mostly allocated to very privileged people. Bills were not delivered and telephone subscribers did not bother to pay for the service, which, by the way, was appalling – to say the least.
