Ghana Embassy Washington

A couple of weeks ago, there was an article on ghanaweb about the behavior of Ghanaian workers at our embassies, I thought that was enough to bring change at the embassy in Washington but BIG NO.

In recent times Ghana has been featured on prime time TV in America, President Kufor has been featured in The Jet magazine, Bono was in Ghana etc.... the driving idea is to create awareness and attract visitors and investors to Ghana.

But its unfortunate that the president and his staff at the Ghana embassy seem to forget that every travel to Ghana starts with an initial contact with the embassy... and that really sets the tone for the trip.

Today i have called Ghana embassy ten times to make a follow up for visa for an investor, who is going to Ghana and after being asked on several occassions to call back after three pm... and so many messages without a call back asked me to see if i can follow up on this application since i was from Ghana.

Well i know a few people at the embassy so i know what number to call and who to talk to, but i decided to test the system... it was pathetic.... one of the lines is busy and the other line went to voice mail.

Mr President i think its about time you do something because all your trips to the USA is meaningless if you dont have an efficient staff to service the people that you are trying to attract. And its not fare to know someone before your application for a visa can be approved

The registry needs a computer system that can help them to keep good records of received passports and dates, status of application as well as returned passports.

This will prevnt the workers to stop acting stupid and stop asking very stupid questions like when did you mail your passport.... when do you think we received your passport... And finally please call back because i will have to go upstairs to look for your passport and application

I hope this article would go a long way to at least streamline the operations of Ghana embassies in the USA as we are approaching the travelling season. I will appreciate if Ghanaweb can edit and publish this article
