Wonders Shall Never End

Wonders they say shall never end and this indeed is what is happening in the politics of Ghana today. A group of people who are all out to run down the current government in whatever policies and gains made by government are doing this with impunity, forgetting where we have come from as a nation.

Isn’t it ironical to hear and read about the NDC led by its flagbearer Professor John Evans Atta Mills, completely run down the NPP government when they did worse things when they had the opportunity to rule this country for close to twenty (20) years? Their founder and mentor, the Mr. “HE WHO MUST BE OBEYED” who is also one of their chief campaigners, whose area of speciality is to attack and make all kinds of wild allegations without substantiating them is all over doing what he is very good at doing, forgetting that he presided over twenty years of gross human rights abuses, state sponsored armed robberies, corruption, politics of deceit and cheap propaganda, a shattered economy etc.

In the forward of their 1996 manifesto, Former President Rawlings from whom Prof Mills draws so much inspiration and is ready to consult twenty – four hours in the unlikely event of he becoming the next president, took a swipe at the NPP and I quote “Having chosen to withdraw from an active role in governance, their energies have been directed towards destructive fabrications to undermine all that we respect and cherish, and outright and often abusive condemnation of everything which the NDC has achieved.” Today, Mr. Rawlings who is the only surviving former president of this country and should have being the country’s number one ambassador, selling out the country to the outside world on the nation’s achievements is rather the one going round destroying the nation to the international community and inciting Ghanaians with much serious fabricated stories.

In any case, the NPP’s boycott of the 1992 parliamentary elections was legitimate. It was in protest of a broad day robbery of victory for democracy and the good people of Ghana.

When the National Health Insurance Bill was being debated in parliament, a bill which was meant to bring relief to the suffering masses by making quality health care delivery affordable and accessible to all Ghanaians, the NDC which claims they are social democrats walked out of Parliament. Today, the bill has been passed and millions of lives are being saved by the National Health Insurance Scheme but in spite of this, the NDC because of desperation for power continues with their propaganda by spreading falsehood that the NPP has achieved nothing on health care delivery.

Not too long ago they lied to the whole nation and the international community that the President had spent five million dollars to renovate his private residence and this turned out to be false. Not being ashamed of themselves, they have once again told a big lie, thinking that the discerning Ghanaian of today will believe them. This time they are linking the President to what they call a failed Kuwaity deal of $5.5 billion, when they cannot even mention the name of the company involved and have no documentary proof of any such transaction.

Who, in this case has ‘directed his energy towards destructive fabrications to undermine all that we respect and cherish’?

We need to be careful as a nation in order not to go back and bring the NDC to take us back to our dark days. They are full of mischief and deceit. Let us make no mistake and put the destiny of this great nation into the hands of this vindictive power thirst, nation wreckers to destroy our country for us. Nana Addo and the NPP will be the best team to move this country forward.
