I had previously published some articles in support of a new electoral (voters) register and I still do. What is so scary about having a new electoral register for election 2020 and onwards? Could the vehemently opposing Ghanaians please tell me?
The rank and file of the NDC faithful are noted for opposing the compilation of voters onto a new electoral register devoid of the suspicions and the ambiguities of the current register. Why are they furiously against the Chair of the Electoral Commission on her decision to prepare a credible new register for the electoral needs of Ghana from this year and beyond?
If you are not a criminal, a thief or a breacher of the law, will you be afraid to see a police officer coming your way, thus heading towards your direction? Will you jump from say, the 5th or 10th floor of a storey building on to the ground to culminate in your death on hearing the police knocking on your door? There were cases where people in Amsterdam and some places in some Western World countries jumped from higher floors on to their death when the police break into their apartments or knock on their doors. They instinctively jump, thinking to escape only to end up dead or paralysed. Some of these people were found to be illegal immigrants, afraid of arrest and deportation, or contraband drug dealers hence breachers of the laws somehow.
One is not afraid of something for no reason, there must always be a cause for that. Subsequently, the NDC must have a reason for being scared of a new electoral register being rolled out. What are they afraid of, Rockson Adofo wants to know!
The current voters register in my belief is inundated with the names of foreigners and/or those who should legally have no right to electoral franchise in Ghana. To rid this suspicion which is a fact, from the minds of discerning Ghanaians to put their minds at rest and to save Ghana from unnecessary headaches, it is just reasonable that no person moans about having a new register. The moaners must have something to hide which the sensible members of the public are not aware of. What could that be? Please NDC and all those agitating against having a new credible electoral register tell us.
Mrs Charlotte Kessen-Osei once said her Deputy, Mr Amadu Sulley, was transferring illegal votes. Such illegal votes are the reason for desiring a new register that deletes those illegal votes. Some people talk about the money involved which to them is not worth of wasting. The benefits to accrue to the nation in the long run will be immense if such illegal voters, most of whom are foreigners, are removed from the register.
The NDC, their agents and assigns can weep the tears of crimson, there must be a new credible electoral register. We should not countenance their stupid machismo insanity anymore. It is about time we flexed our muscles for them to see that nobody is afraid of their bestial threats. Ghana does not belong to them alone but to every Ghana, therefore, we should not allow them to have their jungle way all of the time.
My reasons for supporting a new electoral register as it is about to be compiled and rolled out are found in some of my previously published articles.
Therefore, I should not enumerate them here again but to refer readers to some of my previous articles as are below.
