Wereko Brobbey allowed Unhindered Voice

Mighty Wereko Brobbey allowed Unhindered Voice & Choice to air his Views ? A publication on Ghanaweb today, Monday 3 June 2013, has caught my attention. I have read it with the greatest interest and attention it deserves. It is titled, "Open letter to NPP national chairman - RE: CONCERNS ABOUT THE NPP" as featured under articles and "NPP has become paranoid" under the General News.

? I personally share the views expressed by the writer, Dr Arthur Kobina Kennedy. Much as I share his noble views, I equally disagree with him on a number of points.

Firstly, the bible says at Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, and I quote, "1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

The timings and the venues for the pronouncements by Dr Wereko Brobbey, Pianim and other like-minded supposedly NPP members are very wrong. At such critical periods where solidarity is required, and solidarity is the only way to advance our cause, the actions of people like Dr Wereko Brobbey are very unhelpful and should not be tolerated but condemned. Their actions and intents are mischievous and must be treated with every scorn that they deserve. Those of us condemning them are not less tolerant or more undemocratic than those sympathising with Dr Wereko Brobbey and his entire ilk. They should know when to behave irresponsibly and when to behave responsibly as advised at Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.

? When someone is behaving foolishly, the person must be told in the face that he is a fool. We should not become, or seen to be, hypocrites. Keeping silence, sacrificing the truth all for the sake of maintaining democracy just because democracy accommodates dissenting views is senseless in a way. The actions by Dr Wereko Brobbey in particular are intended to bring the NPP down by seeking to strengthen the hands of the respondents in the ongoing case. Look at the timings and the platforms used to air out his preposterous views.

Does the bible not say, "A Kingdom divided against itself shall not stand?" Are Dr Wereko Brobbey's actions not premised on a divided Kingdom's scenario as warned against by Jesus Christ?

I think no-one is seeking to advise the NPP faithful to remain permanently gentle; additionally turning their right cheek to their opponent to slap whenever the left cheek is whacked. The NPP are too gentle to be seen as overly timid if not taken for fools. For how long should this continue? Have we forgotten the advice given by the late Alex Kwabena Konadu alias "One Man Thousand?" He said, "When all people are turning into animals, do metamorphose into animal like them else, they will turn to devour you after they have changed into animals"

? The NDC have always been violent and very intimidating with intention to make NPP cower whenever they sight anything NDC. They get away with anything. They are law unto themselves and are permanent beneficiaries of selective justice. They commit crime with impunity and get rewarded or applauded for that. It is all because they have intimidating posture with big mouth to talk and scream louder. For how long should the NPP sit with their hands in their lap, mouth agape, and lost in memory hoping God will provide? Heaven helps those who help themselves!

? Back to Bataan, the actions of people like Dr Wereko Brobbey are calculated psychological warfare waged on the NPP to weaken their recourse to justice. Mr. Wereko Brobbey should be old and wise enough to understand that politically-charged court cases are not determined only on the evidence before the court. The courts do consider other factors as:

1. What will be the disastrous repercussions if the verdict is declared in favour of this party or the other even though the evidence in front of the court clearly indicates where the just verdict should go?

2. Which party among the litigious lot is too aggressive and likely to cause mayhem if the verdict did not go their favour?

3. Which party is docile enough to accept any verdict even if he/she is cheated?

4. Which party has the greatest support?

5. Which party is too poor to appeal the verdict when it goes against it by malice?

All the considerations will go against the party that is soft and can easily make to cower. There should be equal strength to ensure justice is done. The NPP must be able to scream and shout as loud as their rival NDC. In Ghana, the mindset of the people has always been that the lenient person is either weak or a fool. How many times has one's leniency not been taken for their weakness in our Ghanaian society? Even though two wrongs never make a right, I shall not advise the NPP to sit with their arms folded around the chest while any Tom, Dick and Harry pokes their nose or takes them for fools.

Dr Wereko Brobbey knows exactly what he is after. In pursuit of his myopic and selfish aspirations, he wants to bring the NPP down. It does not interest me the least whether he is a paid agent or not. All that I know is he is evil and full of evil intentions about the NPP, her leadership and all discerning Ghanaians. Do we suffer such fools kindly? No! Much as I appreciate the views expressed by Dr Arthur Kobina Kennedy, we should learn to know what to say, when to say them and how to say them if we really have the interest of the majority of Ghanaians at heart. ? ?
