Well Done EC, Security Services, Media, Observers ...

, and Ghanaians for Peaceful Elections!

It is highly commendable the manner in which the Electoral Commission, the Security Services, the Media, Observers, and all Ghanaians played their various roles in holding peaceful elections to elect Professor John Evans Atta Mills as Ghana’s next president for the coming four years.

By holding peaceful elections Ghanaians have exhibited political maturity, love for peace, and have consolidated our position as the pacesetters of clean democracy in Africa. The great democratic achievement chalked by Ghana needs commendation. Hopefully, the rest of Africa can learn from Ghana’s example in our quest for modern democracy in the continent.

In spite of some lapses and deficiencies in some of the elections processes, on the whole, the elections went on smoothly and well. What we should understand is that it is quite difficult for our elections process to achieve a 100% efficiency score or perfection at this stage of our electoral process development. As we grow as a democracy, we should endeavor to improve on the process so that future events will get better than this. I am sure the EC will take steps to improve the election process to make future events even more efficient and successful.

All Ghanaians should appreciate what we have achieved collectively as a nation, regardless of who lost or won. At least, our preparedness to live in peace and as brothers and sisters is a great feat as a people. Ghana is the winner in all this and we should all be very proud of ourselves as Ghanaians. Let us keep this positive and peaceful demeanor going for the sake of Ghana’s future and democracy. We should not forget that a nation divided is a nation defeated. So let’s throw our support behind President-elect Mills to lead Ghana to a better destination and future. Further, we should remind ourselves that politics is like a game, some times you win and other times you lose. We thank God for making us the wise nation of Africa. Bravo!
