It is hard to believe that after fifty-one years of independent, we still count people in Ghana because our leaders don't know the strategy they should adapt to collate information from all corners of this country without going from house to house.
Even China which has the largest population in the world knows the number of their people without any periodical counting why a small country like Ghana does not.
We know where we were born and the families we belong to. Our traditional rulers in every village and town in this country also know the head of every family, then why can't we collate the list of our people in every family and submit it to the traditional leaders for cross checking and from there to the district assemblies where all other towns and villages will deposit their lists? Through that we can use the process to issue NATIONAL IDENTITY CARDS.
It seems we don't know how to use our limited resources to generate more funds to the nation. I wrote a similar article to this forum during National Identification exercise in the tenure of NPP government and it met some few critics.
We are in computer age, even one used computer could be used to collate over hundred thousand names but I don't understand the reason why we still go from house to house to count people.
If the opening up offices in villages and towns and charging town committees to that task would be a hard exercise for the government, my outfit can organise resources to meet that challenge for the country.
The amount of money the government is spending in this interim exercise could be used for other important issues to accelerate development.
Oh Ghana when shall we grow? Refuse and high risk water borne diseases are killing people daily because of inability to access portable water for them. Accidents are claiming lives everyday because of bad roads and the government inability to construct dual carriage for the people to enjoy good life, but the government still get money to engage in unnecessary activities.
Any Ghanaian who support this idea should prepare to join me to provide one computer for every village and town in the country. I am not ending it here but the petition would reach the local government and the president of the country to inform them that we hold Ghana at heart and we are also ready to add our quota to the development of the country.
God bless our Country Ghana.
