GHANA POSTAL SERVICE MARKS WORLD POST DAY

The Ghana Postal Services Company Limited, GPSC, has organised a programme dubbed, "Customers' Day," in Accra as part of activities marking the 28th World Post Day anniversary. It provided a forum for interaction with its customers to know their expectations and the problems confronting them in their dealings with the company. In a speech, the Director-General of the GPSC, Mr. Isaac Adu Boahene, said the environment in which the postal service operates is changing. This is because keen competition exists at both national and international levels. He, however, said the postal service is prepared to turn the challenge into an opportunity. He hoped that the interaction will generate ideas which will help in building an efficient and a reliable postal organisation. The Assistant Marketing Manager of the Ghana Commercial Bank, GCB, Mrs.. Susan Okusun, said even thought here is an improvement in the collection and delivery of mails, there is the need for the GPSC to be more vigilant to avoid pilfering of mails. The Editor of the "Weekly Spectator", Mr.. Tom Dorkenoo, said, the vision of customers is efficiency, reliability and quick delivery. He therefore advised the GPSC not to relent on its effort. Prizes were later presented to the winners of last year's World Post Day Essay Competition and efficient Mail carriers. End
