Waris stars as Nantes qualify to quarterfinals in French Cup

he on-loan FC Porto striker Majeed Waris appeared in his 25th match in all competitions for FC Nantes this season as he helped his team qualify for the quarterfinals of the 2018/19 Coupe de France.

The Black Stars forward came off the bench to play the last 19 minutes in his side’s 2-0 home win over Toulouse in the Round of 16 of he Coupe de France on Tuesday.

It was the 25th appearance of the season for the Ghanaian attacker at Nantes.

Kalifa Coulibaly and Anthony Libombe who started the game scored two first half goals to give the host a comfortable lead and in the second half coach Vahid Halihodzic brought on Waris to finish the game.

Meanwhile the possibility of John Boye and Majeed Waris facing off in the quarterfinals has been removed as Boye’s Metz were eliminated by US Orleans.
