V L K Djokoto is a down-to-earth, sharp and humble comrade who communicates exceptionally well. But what I admire the most is his discipline.
He attended the Christ the King International School for primary education— and later moved to The Roman Ridge School— where he became senior prefect in sixth form. At school, he was a talented footballer who loved to debate current affairs and excelled academically, especially in history.
In 2016, he graduated from Swansea University with a degree in law after three years of undergraduate studies. A fresh graduate, his first job was as a Legal Aide for the Ghana Armed Forces, where he gained first-hand experience in the discipline and structure of military service. He then served as a court clerk at the circuit court, high court— finance division, and supreme court as a legal researcher. At court, he understudied judges, learning the justice system as an insider.
He then joined Enjoy magazine, where he wrote a column popular in diplomatic circles. This was the beginning of his career in journalism. During this period, he became the proprietor of the Accra Evening News— reviving Kwame Nkrumah’s newspaper.
Between 2017 and 18, he was trained as a solicitor at the prestigious City Law School, University of London.
Since 2018, he’s led an old family office— D K T Djokoto & Co— which specialises in real estate, rural development, public relations, and arts and culture. He also joined Class FM as a broadcast journalist and producer with a focus on politics. He later joined the Metropolitan Entertainment Television, where he produced Good Evening Ghana and doubled as a court reporter.
These early roles gave Djokoto a strong foundation in law and governance, skills he’s since brought into public life. Comrades often point to this mix of legal knowledge, journalism and entrepreneurship as part of what makes him stand out among a new generation of politicians.
In 2020, he joined the NDCs campaign as a public relations specialist. As team lead, communications for Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang FGA— Vice-Presidential Candidate for the National Democratic Congress — he managed photographers and a filmmaker, and led creative direction.
He also managed Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s social media during this period and authored human-interest stories centred on the Vice-Presidential candidate for the Daily Graphic, Ghana News Agency, Citi News, Joy News and Radio Gold.
As managing partner of D K T Djokoto & Co, he’s advised the European Union, Ghana, Ministry of Finance– Ghana, Societe Generale Ghana, National Petroleum Authority, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre and Information Services Department— Ghana, amongst others.
He is also a director of Voltacoast— an investment, rural banking and energy advisory with a focus on development in the Volta Region.
If he’s not at the beach in Keta, he goes to the stadium to watch Accra Hearts of Oak and, although a traditional royal, fellowships at the Christ the King catholic church. He is a co-founder of the Ghana Equestrian Society.
