Trespassing and vandalization of institutional property

9th September, 2014

Trespassing and vandalization of institutional property of trans africa university college

The management of Trans Africa University College are calling on the Police to as a matter of urgency to intervene in a case of trespassing and vandalization of a property on plot No. 55 located at West Airport.
According to management, thugs besieged the place, broke the existing padlock, and vandalized the place causing a chaotic situation. The behaviour of the thugs has the potential of leading to more serious troubles. As a law abiding institution, we are therefore calling on the police to quickly provide security to forestall further troubles and to ensure sanity.
The property was leased to the school in 2006 to train students in the area of Tourism and Hospitality Management, but just as work started, there was a letter from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture dated on the 25th June 2007 informing the school that the said property was allocated to the Ministry of Agriculture by the Confiscated Assets Committee and has not been de-confiscated. While the school was advised to suspend developments until the de-confiscation has been done, information received by the school yesterday indicates that, thugs have gone to vandalize the place; a trespass of the property.
It is in the wake of these happenings that we are making this report. Attached are the agreement letter and the letter from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. We are once again, appealing to you to provide security and protection of the above-mentioned property.
Thank you.
