I was hurrying to pick my children from school when I saw a group of Motor cycle riders come towards me riding in the middle of the road.
Then followed by an open-top vehicle and there stood Mr Hassan Ayariga, Presidential candidate for the All Peoples Congress (APC) smiling broadly, I thought for a moment, “what was happening? immediately it occurred to me that the political season is here again.
It is a season that we cannot avoid as Ghanaians, especially as it reaches its peak every four years.
From this time till November, we are going to have political rallies upon rallies, various forms of campaign, distribution of political party T'Shirts etc.
I can only share some pieces of advice as we enter this season, remember that it is not a do or die affair, it is various personalities who feel they are capable to lead this nation who are coming up for us to elect the one we feel is most suitable.
Do not get violent because of that, you may not agree with one ideology or the other but it does not mean you are enemies it only brings to the fore diversity.
Note that there can be unity in diversity; we cannot all be the same, because that will be very boring, we need the difference, and it should only make us better as a people.
I wish that this time around, our voting will not be because we are die-hard NDC or die-hard NPP supporters, but we will look at the ideas, strategies and see what is best for us as a people then we vote based on that.
I also wish that we will not vote based on which tribe or religion one is from, or how tall or short someone is, but based on what we are told as a people, we will vote based on who we think can better our lot as Ghanaians I wish that people who get hired to cause trouble on elections day will get wiser and take the monies but refuse to cause trouble, remember that if you go and cause trouble and you get caught you are the one that gets punished not the one who sent you.
In any case, have you ever seen John Mahama's son or Akuffo-Addo's daughter engaged in a riot because of elections and voting? If they will not do it, why will you?
Let peace be the key word.
Let's keep talking….
