The NPP: An Arrogant Political Party

I have every reason to believe that had Dr Nkrumah been alive today, he would've certainly loved the NDC party. The reason being that the NDC party stands for all the things, which Dr Kwame Nkrumah once stood for and totally endorsed. Our late president understood the importance of multi-tribalism and its peaceful coexistence. Moreover, he understood that in order for Ghana to function as one- all her various tribes would have to work together as one. The notion of tribe superiority would have to be completely abolished. At present, there is no political party in Ghana-which embodies the absolute spirit of multi-tribalism more than the NDC party. The NDC party has made politics a multi-tribal affair as opposed to a tribal affair. The NDC party offers shelter to all tribes as opposed to some. And we thank the honourable Mr Rawlings and his wife for this.

Ghana's political landscape is now in the hands of three political parties. Namely; the NDC, NPP and CPP. I would have to say that the CPP is the most sharpest political party of them all. Mind you, this confession is coming from me-a staunch supporter of the ruling party. Undoubtedly, Paa Kwesi Nduom of the CPP party is the most wittiest politician in Ghana today. This man simply knows what he is talking about. I have heard him on numerous occasions communicating his ideas to the masses. And I must definitely confess to you all that his ideas are simply brilliant. I seriously think that Paa Kwesi Nduom would've been our president elect- if elections were all about ideas instead of numbers. Atta Mills is good, but I do think that Nduom would've been better.

The NPP party stands for all the things, which are associated with tribalism. The sole purpose of this all Akan party is to realise some sort of an Akan hegemony in Ghana. See, the Akans believe that Ghana belongs to them. They have this sick mentality that they are superior to all the other various tribes in Ghana. According to them, if you are not an Akan-then it means that you're not from Ghana. The NPP party came into existence with the intent to promote the interests of Akans. Most of the members of the NPP party are wealthy Akans, who feel that Rawlings did them wrong during his tenure. They also believe that Rawlings is an illegitimate Ghanaian, who had no right to rule Ghana whatsoever. Hence, their bitterness, rage and hatred towards to the man. According to the Akans, only a person of an Akan heritage should be deemed fit to rule Ghana.

In fact, the sheer arrogance of the NPP party is really sickening. This is by far the only political party in Ghana of Akans, by Akans and for Akans. Mind you, Rawlings would have never staged a coup-d'etat, had it not been for the Akans and their insatiable appetite to be the only rulers in Ghana. In all honesty, I am very glad that Rawlings did stage that coup d'etat. And it's all because-the social, political and economic privileges, which before the coup were reserved for only Akans became also available to non-Akans after the coup. A non-Akan could now become the president of Ghana as well as an Akan. I believe that this is how Ghana ought to be. Why should one tribe of people be reduced to shit carriers, street-cleaners and watchmen, whilst the other boss them around? It doesn't make sense, does it? May the NPP party shed its tribalism for the sake of a better Ghana.
