They include Madam Habiba Atta, a sportswoman, for Old Tafo/Suame, Mr. Akuoko Frimpong, an educationist, Odotobri and Mr. Barima Brobbey Bediako, chairman of the Nsuta-Wassa Area Council, for Kwabre. The others are Mr. Ishmael Butler, assemblyman, Asokwa West, Mr. Kwame Adubofour, a businessman, for Subin and Mr. A.A. Dankyi, a research officer at the Crops Research Institute, Atwima-Kwanwoma.

Mr. Philip Edward Kwabena Antwi, Regional Chairman of the NDC, told the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi that this brings to 24 the number of parliamentary candidates approved for the region. He said the final list for the 33 constituencies would be ready by the end of next week.

Meanwhile the constituency executive for Old Tafo/Suame have dissociated itself from a resolution by some members of the party in the constituency objecting to Madam Habita Atta's candidature. A statement signed by Mr. Osei Bosie, acting constituency chairman, said they would respect the decision of the national executive committee.
